biophilic photography

As an artist and a software developer, I feel like I need to make my work as human as possible.

With instagram now moving beyond just hashtags for reach, I am going to start sharing some thoughts in my captions, to get said reach, and also to meaningfully engage with this community.

Today I will share the reason I take (make?) photos. My favorite photos are those, which, after making, make me feel glad, and make me feel good. Most of the photos I take and like, are those which help me connect deeply with nature. There’s a word for this - I learnt about it just today - biophilic.

Biophilic design intends for, and encourages us to develop a deeper connection with nature.

So there you go, people, biophilic photography. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I’d like to know what makes you feel good and glad? Lmk in the comments.

Stay human.

[Biophilic design, dappled sunlight, indoor jungle vibes, plant aesthetic, macro leaf texture, golden hour plants.]

Animals of the Municipal Corporation Building

Several cameos of the Venetian Lion, monkeys reaching for Alphonso mangos, foxes plotting for Jamun/Indian Blackberry, squirrels, and ducks.
All animals/beings with their prey/goal, symbolizing how the land provides for all if we coexist with balance

The Municipal Corporation Building in Mumbai, completed in 1893.

A statue of Sir Pherozshah Mehta and a painting of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj remind us the importance of freedom and social justice.

We also find two mythical/spiritual beings. The winged angel is Mumbai’s guardian angel, Ubs Prima in Indis, meaning first metro in India. We find two Venetian Lions upon entering the building. Lions with wings, talons and a reptilian tail at the base of the staircase representing control over land, sea, air.

The style of architecture is Indo-Saranac - a mix of Indian and middle eastern elements
