Loved my first marathon! As a triathlete with a swimming background, I have always been embarrassed by my run. Running does not feel natural to me (nor do I look natural doing it 😂). I am so proud of the work I have put in over the last couple years that led me to run a 3:23 - qualifying for Boston with room to spare! I got emotional at mile 25 running past the parking lot where the St George Ironman bike/run transition was located and realizing how much more I trust my body than when I first raced there in May 2024. Most importantly, I have made the best friends along the way. So many miles on the JRP trail running to the soundtrack of @speedotriman (he talks and I just try to get enough air). Summer speedwork mornings with @andrew_stasfit and crew (only the best people can make running in the dark fun). Meeting so many awesome folks at @twentyonerun , including @addielillian and @heidi_bryant who carried me through the race. I guess I am a runner now? As long as I get to keep moving my body with people I enjoy and admire, count me in! taken in St. George, Utah by @aqwilson

Happy late 13th birthday to my buddy! I can’t believe I have a teenager but I am loving every stage with this cool kid. He had a break out water polo season this year (being 5’9” in 12U league has its advantages) but more than all the goals he scored I am so proud of the type of leader he became. I had multiple moms come up to me after the last game and tell me what an impact Ira’s kindness had on their boys. In the championship game of the season the goalie (who is autistic) got overwhelmed after the other team had a few quick goals. Ira swam back to the goal and single handedly talked him down. He seriously has the best heart. Maybe someday he will even stop teasing his sisters 🫠 by @aqwilson

Another race, more lessons learned. I had high hopes for a PR but as usual race day threw some curves. My stomach was bugging me before the start, but I chalked it up to nerves and our shuttle driver who got lost and took us through a very bumpy tour of Jacksonville. I thought I would go away as soon as we started. Unfortunately, the waves and gross smelling water made it worse. For the first time ever I had to swim to a kayak and hold on to a life preserver while I fed the fishes. I seriously thought about quitting but decided to give the bike a shot. I threw out my expectations and just went to work. There were a lot of ups and downs over the next 10 hours, but I battled through to end up 4th in my age group. My best finish position yet! My time of 11:26 wasn’t as fast as I had hoped, but I am proud of the race I put together. Big thanks to the best team captain @speedotriman and best sherpa Mac. And big congrats to @swimblondy04 on her first Ironman! by @aqwilson

May is nuts but also so fun to embrace my role as #1 fan. Olive has improved so much in vball and she is a natural on the track (she can thank Mac for that). Claire takes after her mom more in track and soccer (sorry kid) but she is the best teammate and never complains. Ira really hit his stride in water polo. I didn’t know I was a screamer until watching his games. Soaking in this fun, busy phase of life ❤️ by @aqwilson

Happy birthday to Olive! At 11, Olive is driven, kind, and sassy. She knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want. Swimming falls in the later category and she has stepped away from that sport for the first time this past year. She is loving volleyball and often shows up in our home gym to join in on my early morning workouts. She loves her friends, fashion, and debate. We love you Olive!! ❤️ by @aqwilson

A few days late, but I can’t miss my annual birthday shout out to Claire. Claire is SO easy to love. She is kind, happy, hilarious, and a friend to everyone. I had so much fun celebrating her with pancakes at Denny’s (where someone overheard it was her birthday and paid for our meal 🥹 - kindness still exists!), pedicure, and fun with friends. Her favorite thing right now is meatloaf (the dog, not the food). When I asked her what her goal was for being nine she said to be more like Jesus. You are already way ahead of me, kid. ❤️ by @aqwilson

2016 - I know that this is just a passing trend, but I am grateful for the prompt to reflect back. 2016 was HARD. I finished up nursing Olive in February, then was immediately pregnant with Claire. I had a couple big cases and ended the year with more billable hours than any other associate at the firm (only beating @adamkaas by a few hours 😉 - who not only pushed me but also knew me so well he guessed I was pregnant with Claire before I had even had a chance to tell Mac). I remember being so proud waddling into my year end review but instead of getting an “‘atta boy” the board expressed concern about burnout and the welfare of my family. I believe the concern came from a good place but I know for a fact that my male counterparts were not asked about the impact of their work on their families. Yes, it was a really really challenging time but I DID IT. And I am so glad I did. The work I put in early on in my career opened doors that would not have been available to me had I gone part time during those hard years of pregnancy, pumping, and sleep deprivation. If you are in the trenches now, it gets better! And your family will be just fine 😁😘 by @aqwilson
