There is a special kind of fulfilment that comes with being home. ❤️

In Ilawe-Ekiti, I was warmly received by familiar faces, genuine laughter, and the reassuring comfort of being among my own people. This is my core: being myself, feeling at ease, and sharing genuine moments with the people and community that shaped me.

For me, these moments speak to the enduring bond between a leader and his community. Beyond the demands of public service, there is profound value in staying connected to one’s roots, sharing in the everyday joys of the people, and nurturing the relationships that make community meaningful.

Ilawe remains a constant reminder of where my journey began, the values that ground me, and the people whose trust and fellowship I hold dear. No matter where duty calls, home will always be a place of belonging, reflection, and renewed connection.

The security of our people remains a matter of utmost importance, and safeguarding our communities requires sustained engagement, institutional collaboration, and a shared sense of responsibility.

Yesterday, I received the Ekiti State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Sotiyo Igbalawole Emmanuel, for a productive engagement on security concerns and opportunities to strengthen security collaboration across Ekiti South Senatorial District.

I believe that effective security is built on cooperation, proactive engagement, and a clear understanding of the needs of our communities. Our people deserve to live, work, and pursue their daily activities in an atmosphere of peace and security.

I remain committed to supporting constructive partnerships and practical measures that strengthen community safety, protect lives and property, and promote lasting peace across Ekiti South.

Today, I had the privilege of hosting stakeholders from APC across Ekiti South Senatorial District at my residence for a strategic engagement on the forthcoming elections and the future of our district. For me, such engagements go beyond politics, they reflect the importance of listening to our people, strengthening the bonds that unite us, and sustaining a shared commitment to the progress and prosperity of Ekiti South.

NIGERIA AT 66, EKITI AT 30: RENEWING OUR PATRIOTISM, UNITY AND COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY

As Nigeria marks her 66th Independence Anniversary and Ekiti State commemorates 30 years of creation, I extend my warmest greetings to Nigerians, particularly the good people of Ekiti State and Ekiti South. These milestones offer us a moment not only to celebrate our journey, but also to reflect on the sacrifices of those who came before us, the resilience of our people, and the responsibility we carry to build a stronger future. For us in Ekiti, thirty years of statehood is a significant chapter in our continuing journey of building communities, strengthening institutions and creating opportunities for our people, within the larger Nigerian project.

At 66 as a nation and 30 as a state, our greatest responsibility is to translate the promise of our shared history into meaningful progress for our people. This requires unity, responsible leadership, accountable institutions and citizens who remain committed to the common good. As a legislator, I remain committed to supporting policies and legislative initiatives that strengthen our democracy, expand economic opportunity, improve the welfare of our people and advance sustainable development. I am particularly confident in the energy, creativity and capacity of our young people to shape the Nigeria and Ekiti of today, not merely inherit the one of tomorrow. I was at plenary yesterday in the Red Chamber 🛑🇳🇬, following the Senate’s annual recess, as legislative proceedings continued at the National Assembly in Abuja.

At a time when the integrity of our budgetary process demands informed scrutiny and institutional responsibility, I was honoured to represent the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, at the 2026 Capacity-Building Workshop of the Senate Press Corps at the National Assembly, Abuja. Convened around the theme, “Leveraging Legislative Oversight and Media Collaboration to Safeguard the National Budget from Unlawful Insertions,” the engagement provided an important platform to strengthen the intersection between legislative oversight, responsible journalism and public accountability. I emphasised that effective reporting of parliamentary affairs requires more than access it demands a sound understanding of legislative procedures, the budget process and a commitment to verification before conclusions are drawn.

The media remains indispensable to a functioning democracy, particularly in keeping citizens informed and public institutions accountable. I therefore encouraged parliamentary journalists to approach the coverage of budgets and public expenditure with rigour, context and professional independence, while the legislature continues to discharge its constitutional oversight responsibilities. I commend the Chairman of the Senate Press Corps, Taiye Odewale, and his team for convening this timely conversation, which brought together legislators, budget experts, civil society, journalists and technology practitioners. Stronger institutional understanding and constructive legislature media engagement will ultimately serve the public interest by promoting transparency, informed citizenship and greater accountability in our democratic process.

Yesterday, I was in Ikere-Ekiti to join family, friends, political associates, community leaders and well-wishers in paying our final respects to the late Senator Anthony Ademuyiwa Adeniyi, SAN, who represented the Ekiti South Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2011 to 2015. It was a solemn occasion, marked by reflections on a life of public service, leadership and commitment to the people. The presence of His Excellency, Governor Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Christianah Afuye, and other distinguished personalities further reflected the respect and regard with which the late Senator was held.

Senator Adeniyi’s passing is a profound loss to his family, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti South and Ekiti State, and to all who had the privilege of knowing or working with him. His years of service remain an important part of his public legacy and the history of representation in our senatorial district. As we bid him farewell, may Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and grant his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

May his memory remain a blessing, and may his soul rest in perfect peace.🕊️🙏

A multi-million naira investment in the future of our young people is strengthening practical science and agricultural education at United High School, Ilawe-Ekiti. I am honoured to have facilitated the provision of comprehensive laboratory equipment and instructional materials for Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Agricultural Science. These resources will expand students access to hands-on learning, scientific inquiry and the practical skills they need to contribute meaningfully to our communities and nation. This intervention reflects my firm conviction that education is one of the most enduring investments any society can make in its future.

The equipment was formally handed over on my behalf by the Chairman of Ekiti South West Local Government, Hon. Richard Apolola, in the presence of the school management, the PTA, the Old Students Alumni Association, traditional leaders and representatives of the host community. I regard this intervention as part of our collective responsibility to prepare the next generation. Investing in education means investing in human dignity, opportunity and the lasting prosperity of our people. I remain committed to supporting initiatives that inspire curiosity, nurture innovation and help build a better-prepared generation and a stronger society.

I was pleased to see the advancement of community infrastructure in Aisegba Ekiti, particularly the construction of a modern office for the Apalufin of Aisegba Ekiti and a mini hall for the Apalufin-in-Council, taking shape.

This project is particularly important to me because it responds to a longstanding need within the community. The traditional meeting place, Owajarinkin, had been out of use for years due to its deteriorating condition. During the 2023 electioneering period, I committed to addressing this need, and I am glad that we are now translating that commitment into a tangible project.

The new office will provide a befitting administrative space for the Apalufin, while the mini hall will serve as a functional venue for council meetings, traditional engagements and other official activities.

This is also a continuation of our interventions in Aisegba Ekiti. We previously facilitated the renovation of the community town hall, which is now in active use.

As the Chief Bobagunwa of Aisegba Ekiti, I remain committed to supporting the community in ways that strengthen our traditional institutions, improve communal infrastructure and address the needs identified by our people.

For me, public service is about keeping faith with our commitments and ensuring that our promises translate into projects that people can see, use and benefit from.
