I think I might finally be on my way to showing up more often more regularly to join @lisapinenotes everyone else for the #Saturdaynightcraftalong for #projecttime again... 🧶 Do you have a job or a career? 🧶 Today was a rough day, I took on a day job to get through while I'm in grad school and it's not something that I want to do (jobwise). The pay is low enough to be a joke for helping me accomplish anything and so naturally I have been continuing to look for something better to hold me through. The irony is that I finally got an offer for something a WEEK after accepting this original gig...after searching since I graduated last December. But the new gig means unavailability for the original and so I went into work thinking - yeap I'm about to be fired because I can't be at their beck and call. 🧶 The funny thing is that I didn't get canned, but I did find out that yet another person is likely leaving (I have heard of two others that might be on their way out due to the pay/distance/hours not being worth it)...which is ironic I think. And I know that eventually I will be leaving as well for much the same reason. But I'm not one to give up information about why I am doing what I am or what any of my plans are - so I left my explanation of the change in my availability as "shit happens" and "I'll let you know as soon as I do" about more details. 🧶 So here we are - in a weird state of limbo, not sure of what all is going to happen in the next little bit. Two jobs, school, my internship, and just trying to keep it together as I do my best to dig myself out of the hole that not working and losing my previous job put me in...and some other things pre-dating it. 🧶 What industry do you work in? 🧶 To keep tabs on this project (and other pairs of socks I make) follow here: https://bit.ly/YetAnotherPair 🧶 Watching/listening to: Ready Player One 🧶 Pattern: My First Toe-Up Socks by @susanbanderson Yarn: by Nicole Studio Samples Fingering Needles: US 2 40" Fixed Circulars Lykke Driftwood 🧶 [Image description: Close up of foot of hand knit socks in variegated brown, white, and purple colorway.] by @aradiagoseling
I super miss joining in @lisapinenotes again for the #Saturdaynightcraftalong ...but here I am again! 🧶 Do you like to make your own props for presentations? 🧶 So as you can see - I've only got half a brain right now - school and starting work again has eaten it up easily...I was supposed to be working on my socks (you can check out the previous post to see a picture of them) but I can't seem to keep my days straight with classes, interning, and now a part-time day job. So I grabbed the wrong project - my week day one - instead of my weekend one. 🧶 Of course, any time done on any project is a win - so here we go! 🧶 I started this project in my first year back at college in 2023 with the intention of creating a visual aid for a class I was taking. In the past I've never really gone out to create this in this way for projects and given how artsy fartsy I am, I'm not sure why. 🧶 Needless the say though, I ran out of time and the project presentation came and went. I made a joke out of the half a brain with a last minute video and got high marks for the effort. And then...it slipped my mind and so has been sitting in Mt. Craftmore waiting for me to finish it up finally. I added it to my queue since it's among the most recent things I've started and to make sure it gone done...and here we are! 🧶 What's the last, if any, prop you've made? 🧶 To keep tabs on this project follow here: https://bit.ly/myassistantBRIAN 🧶 Watching/listening to: Deadly Women 🧶 Pattern: Anatomical Human Brain by Liza Frantseva (modification in how I made the gyri - just a giant icord) Yarn: Loops & Threads Sweet Snuggles Hook & Needles: US N/P 10.0 mm & US 15 10.0 mm 🧶 [Image description: Close up crochet brain with knit icord gyri in coral red for the frontal lobe on the left hemisphere and pale orange for the parietal lobe on left hemisphere.] by @aradiagoseling
Finally joining @lisapinenotes again for the #Saturdaynightcraftalong for some #projecttime again... 🧶 Have you ever made a pair of socks? 🧶 That said, I only had time for one round before I had to dash off to do something else, but that's how it goes... 🧶 Do you like to take breaks from creating? 🧶 Since school began I have had a hard time getting in creation time on the regular. This is not something that is new or strange to me, although it is inconvenient since making is something I do professionally. And while these socks are only a personal project, I don't really have time for anything paid or leisure it seems... 🧶 That said...I do want to get back into it and I think that it is important for me to take time at least weekly to work on things. Balancing everything out is going to take time for me to manage...but giving it the ole college try every week matters! 🧶 Do you make time to create each week? 🧶 To keep tabs on this project (and other pairs of socks I make) follow here: https://bit.ly/YetAnotherPair 🧶 Watching/listening to: the Marvel "What If...?" series 🧶 Pattern: My First Toe-Up Socks by @susanbanderson Yarn: by Nicole Studio Samples Fingering Needles: US 2 40" Fixed Circulars Lykke Driftwood 🧶 [Image description: Close up of foot of hand knit socks in variegated brown, white, and purple colorway.] by @aradiagoseling
I swear I will put something clever here maybe...but seriously I just want to woek on this project and not worry about a caption right now FRFR by @aradiagoseling
Joining @lisapinenotes for the #Saturdaynightcraftalong for some #projecttime finally... 🧶 Do you take long breaks from creating? 🧶 I never mean to take a break from making things, but sometimes it happens. Don't even get me started on how long I've been working on these socks and sheesh why am I not done yet?! (So many reasons really and perhaps about to have more as school starts up again.) 🧶 That said, I only had time for one round before I had to dash off to do something else, but that's how it goes... 🧶 Do you like to take breaks from creating? 🧶 To keep tabs on this project (and other pairs of socks I make) follow here: https://bit.ly/YetAnotherPair 🧶 Watching/listening to: "The Nun 2" (finally trying to watch this and by watch it I mean be in the same room while it's playing...) 🧶 Pattern: My First Toe-Up Socks by @susanbanderson Yarn: by Nicole Studio Samples Fingering Needles: US 2 40" Fixed Circulars Lykke Driftwood 🧶 [Image description: Pair of hand knit socks in white, brown, orange, and purple colorway with toes and part of foot worked and two yarn cakes and fronts marked with yellow bulb and bee stitch markers on an open Franklin Covey planner.] by @aradiagoseling
Any joy in your life right now...even something small...please lay it on me! (Inspired by @ashleyelizabeth_11 🧶 New mug for the day job because moths are yay! 18.5 fl oz because let's stay hydrated while we being cute dammit. 🧶 Not my normal post or caption, but I'm tired and this was a smidge of joy from the weekend! 🧶 What's something good in your world? by @aradiagoseling
Any goals for this year? 🧶 Swinging in early for just a little bit of #ProjectTime with my hospice blanket... 🧶 I took my last final today so I'm done for a real break (my first break since I started school nearly 2 years ago. I went with a faster track to move myself along to where I wanted to be faster - and then just a few weeks ago I decided to change things around even more - just moving the goalpost a little closer... 🧶 Every step counts, just like every stitch. 🧶 What would you like in your life this year? 🧶 Watching/listening to: The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix (again, I do love my spooky stuff) 🧶 Pattern: my preferred granny square Yarn: worsted weight scraps, likely some Red Heart Hook: Boye US H/8 5.0 mm 🧶 [Image description: Close up of granny squares in red, white, and blue combinations alternating with solid green and solid brown granny squares.] by @aradiagoseling
Joining @lisapinenotes for the #Saturdaynightcraftalong finally... 🧶 Do you have project goals? 🧶 I feel like such a slacker when I don't make it in for this and I mean to every week...and then suddenly it's Sunday and I've missed it. So time to mark it in the planner - maybe that'll help me remember *sigh* 🧶 Usually I would be working on socks as my weekend project time is usually relegated to personal stuff only, but I have this volunteer project I need to get cracking on. A crocheted lap blanket for an organization that works with hospice patients. One that made a request specifically for any red/white/blue that could be had. 🧶 I started this before a back break up, the end of the semester, and the loss of a job - so needless to say I'm not as done with it as I would like to be, but perhaps that's fair given the gripping depression ever present. I've now reached the point where all of the main color scheme squares are done and I'm just putting them in some kind of order - a diagonal red, white, and then blue center with alternating rows of green and brown in a checkered pattern. 🧶 How many projects are you looking to finish this year? 🧶 Watching/listening to: "Nazareth" by Sleep Token (and other bands like Bring Me the Horizon, courtesy of Pandora) 🧶 Pattern: my preferred granny square Yarn: worsted weight scraps, likely some Red Heart Hook: Boye US H/8 5.0 mm 🧶 [Image description: Close up of granny squares in red, white, and blue combinations alteranated with solid green and solid brown granny squares.] by @aradiagoseling
This is inspired by a new artist I just followed on Threads: @jmizu (go check him out...the work is stunning) 🧶 I haven't really been artmaking much as of late - what with school and work, tumultuous times in my life...the greater expanse outside of me...but I did plan some for this year, including a goal of finishing 12 projects from "Mt. Craftmore" as I call it. 🧶 Then it occurred to me that while I had set the goal, I hadn't mapped it out, I hadn't made time or space for it to even be worked on, much less accomplished in my life. That simply wouldn't do... 🧶 So I picked out 12 projects from my Ravelry that have already been started (because finishing a brand new project rather defeats the purpose...) And the purpose of course is to finish things, to shop my stash, to make space - room in my life for other things...and of course to offer some of what I've made to the world. 🧶 The 12 pieces in question... 1. Merry Yuletide 2. Hospice Lap Blanket 1 3. Brown Noise 4. Braaaiiinnnzzz 5. Dem Bones in the Yard 6. Hito For Me! 7. Solid Granny Squares 8. A Matter of Friendship 9. Ilene Bag 10. My Mingoes! 11. Wildheart KAL 12. Sweet Cephalopod 🧶 *Honorable mention for my previous no. 5 Grey Matters because I literally have not started it yet. Sweet - which is a sweater dress I frogged completely and colorFULL - I don't even know what I am thinking with this one but to the backburner with you!* by @aradiagoseling
Do things take you a lot longer than you realize? 🧶 Usually I have something more interesting than this to say, but I've spent the day working and it's been a lot of work and very little output it seems...so I'm rather drained. 🧶 Joining @lisapinenotes for the #Saturdaynightcraftalong to get a little more work done on my socks for some much needed #ProjectTime. 🧶 One thing that I can say is that now that I've gotten into more of a routine it still amazes me how little I can get done and how long everything seems to take. So long that I feel like I've largely done nothing most of the time. But I suppose what it really means is that I need to adjust my expectations. 🧶 How long do you spend playing catch up with things? 🧶 To keep tabs on this project (and other pairs of socks I make) follow here: https://bit.ly/YetAnotherPair 🧶 Watching/listening to: Angel Has Fallen on USA 🧶 Pattern: My First Toe-Up Socks by @susanbanderson Yarn: by Nicole Studio Samples Fingering Needles: US 2 40" Fixed Circulars Lykke Driftwood 🧶 [Image description: Toes of hand knit socks in white, brown, orange, and purple colorway on long circular need with individual yarn cake in the background on a white and black marble background.] by @aradiagoseling
What's constant in your life right now? 🧶 Imperfectly so...I decided (that is remembered recently) that I wanted to try and track my productivity and just seeing how much I'm doing what I mean to do when I mean to do it - which in this case means P E R C E N T A G E S!...which in and of itself is funny since I hate math, but I do love statistics - go figure.) And don't get me started about the amount of (albeit simple) math that is involved in my artwork *le sigh*...anyway - I digress. 🧶 So it seems that I haven't been quite as on top of things even while I have been trying - the tired...really the depression...has been getting me and well, I can understand why given how my life has been since early December and it frankly hasn't gotten any better in any real way...and I don't know what to do with that. 🧶 So knitting it is, because what else can I even do? The circumstances of my life are what they are, I've done what I can and it's just not enough (and likely never will be) - which is quite unfortunate. But still my knitting is here, with me, solid and dependable even when other things (or people) aren't. 🧶 On what can you depend? 🧶 To keep tabs on this project follow here: https://bit.ly/mihitoporme 🧶 Watching/listening to: I Hate You - Don't Leave Me by Jerold Kreisman, MD & Hal Straus 🧶 Pattern: Hitofude Cardigan by Hiroko Fukatsu Yarn: Loops & Threads Woolike, Colorway: Golden Yellow Needles: Lykke Fixed Circulars in Driftwood, US 4/3.5 mm 🧶 [Image description: Picture of Loops & Threads Woolike yarn on bee themed Lemonwood yarn minder next to sleeve lace repeats of Hitofude Cardigan with light blue project bag.] by @aradiagoseling
Do you pay attention to your (life) patterns? 🧶 I feel like I have been especially tired over the last few days which means there's a great many things that I haven't finished or bothered to get done. Now just two days isn't a lot...but already a pattern is trying to emerge - and not the kind I want (yes bad textile art humor!) 🧶 And while I'm not working on my socks tonight (that's a weekend project) it kind of reminds me of them (or really anything honestly textile wise) in that at first the pattern isn't discernible. It's either hard to see or that hasn't been enough that's happened for me to be able to really see how things might turn out - but that doesn't mean that the pattern *isn't* forming... 🧶 So I'm trying to be mindful of that...that fact that every little step, even just the small bits that might be done at a time result in what ultimately makes the pattern clear later on. 🧶 What's a pattern in your life right now? 🧶 To keep tabs on this project follow here: https://bit.ly/mihitoporme 🧶 Watching/listening to: I Hate You - Don't Leave Me by Jerold Kreisman, MD & Hal Straus 🧶 Pattern: Hitofude Cardigan by Hiroko Fukatsu Yarn: Loops & Threads Woolike, Colorway: Golden Yellow Needles: Lykke Fixed Circulars in Driftwood, US 4/3.5 mm 🧶 [Image description: Close up of lace repeats of Hitofude Cardigan in yellow colorway with paperclips for horizontal repeats.] by @aradiagoseling
