Little dump from the last month. We’ll get some more group rides together, more Ride & RC to come. Been busy working on the community space and have so much planned for 2027 and can't wait to share more. by @araf.works

I stumbled on some very wise words over the weekend. It's unsurprising that they are still as relevant today as they were when they were first published 26 years ago.⠀

For the first time since I was 3 I've been without a bike! Having sold my accumulation whilst Ive been ill recently I was down to just the GT. After going out on it for the first time in over a year I knew I wanted to make some changes so I was stoked that @shaggyjohn offered to help take it away and kick start the process. Finally turning the GT fully disc braked and even entertaining my want to fit my old rack!

Thanks to all your suggestions on bars I decided to go with the @crumbworks.co KTBar. A bit more sweep than the Stooge which will hopefully keep to things chill. With my ghetto bar ends you really get some good riding positions out of it.

I messed up the paint, but it was more for rust prevention. I might tart it up in the summer. For now it's rocking the same paint as the Mini since it was a close enough match!

I've got a few more things to hone and tweak on it but looking forward to using it for commuting, weekend jaunts and many more camping / over night bivvies! by @araf.works

Another blast of an RC Clwb. Ride to RC in the woods, clambering up silly steep verges, rocky cliff edges and over fallen trees to crawl, bash and even get the jet boat out!

As always I didn't really take many photos as was to engrossed just chatting away and having fun with everyone. I'll try and get better at doing this!

Join us for another RC Clwb + Ride on Saturday 12th September, rolling out from @billysbikeexchange — Just drop us a DM to join the group chat.

We'll be taking a steady mooch over to Eastville Park and up the Frome Valley to Snuff Mills where we'll explore the river and woods whilst @emm_whitaker.png shares some of their local crawling spots. We'll then likely go for a little bash too before taking a meander back into the center of Bristol.

If you don't have an RC you are totally welcome to join! We always bring a few spares and even if you just want to chill at the spots and watch we actively encourage that as it's a great way to get into the hobby and learn more.

See you there ✌️ by @araf.works

I'm finally checking off a bucket list item and going to @fosgoodwood tomorrow. What are your tips, what should I be checking out what do people usually miss? Also any advice on how to not melt in the heatwave is appreciated, think I'll be heading to the woods for some dusty rally shade! Can't wait for the drive down, Bristol to Southampton on the A36 is a lush stretch. by @araf.works

Saturday Night dramway is back! Pack your lights and snacks for a Steady Clwb ride North East out of the city along some long forgotten paths and lanes and into the night as we keep an eye out for wildlife in the dusk. If we're lucky you can expect bats and hopefully some glow worms!

Join our Clwb channel for updates, where we'll also share the route closer to the ride.

It's looking like the weather should be a bit more acceptable by Saturday, so we're going for a mooch about on the bikes and bringing some RC's. If you don't have an RC, you're still welcome to join us, we usually have some spares to share!

No route for this one, we'll be meeting at @billysbikeexchange and just taking a steady mooch about Bristol, likely heading up to the Gully.

If you'd like too join, drop us a message to be added to the group chat!

If you know me, you know I love obscure and interesting stuff. Well the Camel Trophy is full of lots of nuggets, one of which lead down a rabbit hole resulting in this build. In 1990 the Trophy took place in Siberia where they actually ran some Defender 130 hicaps as support vehicles. If you're not familiar with defenders, the short wheel base 2 door is traditionally a 90 and the 4 door, single and double cab pickups are 110's. Land Rover made some extended wheelbase 130's including some double cab pickups which were high capacity (hicaps) where the bed is wider than the body and deeper than usual. However...

I prefer the lines of a unibody defender and discovered that Land Rover's special vehicles division actually produced some 130 double cab unibody pickups in the early 2000's (so after the Camel Trophy ended). These were made exclusively for the Dutch market for tax reasons, meaning they're all left hand drive and fairly rare now.

I like to think of the Camel Trophy had continued for a few more years these might have seen this become a reality, though realistically the hicaps probably served a more practical purpose.

I'm really happy with how this thing is driving, I'll get some videos soon. It's running the FCX24M Tacoma wheelbase with a working winch and managed to get the golden 60/40 weight ratio on it, which with this sort of scale setup took some work.
