Looking through old photos.

Found this one from a 2011 series Life Guard huts.

I like to go thru old pictures. I still remember each and every moment and place, I realize how much and how quickly the city has evolved. Many of the places and things no longer exist.

If you are interested in taking the journey back in time, check out the photo group I started back in 2010 ,The Miami Picture Project on Flickr.

The group is composed of 270 members, and there are 5900 photos spaning back 16 years. Today, it's a living archive of Miami seen through many eyes and lenses. by @arbitrarypixel

Deco

Intermixed among the Deco buildings, you will find some Mediterranean Revival architecture.

This one just invites you to spend some time in the garden enjoying a cool drink and a light breeze. Enjoying the sound of bird songs and the occasional butterfly or lizard 🦎.

Mediterranean Revival is a style that became popular during the 1920s and 1930s, particularly in warm coastal areas like Florida and California.

It borrows from the traditional architecture of Mediterranean countries such as Italy, Spain, with Moorish, and Byzantine influences.

Key characteristics include stucco walls, red clay tile roofs, and arched windows, designed to evoke the feeling of a luxurious seaside villa and a leisurely lifestyle. by @arbitrarypixel

Deco

The Greystone Hotel in Miami Beach, built in 1939, an example of Streamline Moderne Art Deco architecture, designed Henry Hohauser.

One of the things I like about the Art Deco district is that it's built at a human scale. Most hotels were no taller than four stories and residential apartments were kept at two stories.

This makes the buildings feel accessible, intimate, like small oasis in the urban landscape. The residential areas are complemented by lush gardens and green spaces that blend the indoor and outdoor spaces.

The human scale and the blening of built and natural make it a pleasure to walk and explore these areas. by @arbitrarypixel
