Elizabeth line shortlisted for architecture prize:

The Elizabeth line, part of an underground rail network which opened in London in 2022, has been announced as one of six nominees for the 2024 Riba Stirling prize for #architecture.

Other sites and structures nominated by the Royal Institute of British Architects include the National Portrait Gallery, a social housing development in east London, and a dairy farm in Dorset renovated to be more accessible for wheelchair users.

There are six nominees in total and #Riba will announce the winner in October at the capital’s Roundhouse.

Although the Elizabeth line opened in 2022, it was not eligible for the prize until this year because of the award’s eligibility rules.

The UK nation has paid a final farewell to Queen Elizabeth II, with a state funeral and military procession in London today, 19th Sept'22. May our beloved late Monarch rest in peace after more than 70 years of devoted service and duty.

Here is a beautiful photograph - courtesy of the BBC - taken inside Westminster Abbey. The Abbey dates back to the 11th century.
