What do the copyright laws around “Happy Birthday,” the iconic photo of Muhammad Ali (you know the one), and the C-SPAN archives have in common? 🤔

They were all topics we dug into at FootageFest last week! 🎬

@FootageFest was created to bring together the people who have the footage and the people who want the footage, and once again, it delivered. We came home with new insights, fresh ideas, and plenty of inspiration from our industry partners and peers.

Thank you to everyone who made it so great. Another FootageFest in the books for the Ninjas! 🥷

So great to see friends and colleagues from @Netflix, @industrystandard.work, Sutter Road, @cinemark, @aras.haus, Truly Original, and more.

Great food, great drinks, and even better company. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us!

Exciting news to kick off the week — the Ninjas are heading back to Footage Fest this fall!

Footage Fest is the world's premier gathering for archival storytelling and third-party content is coming to the East Coast—and we'll be there.

Three days of insight, access, and collaboration with filmmakers, archivists, producers, and rights experts. Our kind of crowd.

Every year we leave with new connections, new insights, and a renewed appreciation for this community. This year is shaping up to be the best one yet.

Are you attending? Drop a comment or send us a DM—we'd love to connect IRL. 🙌

Serena Williams is back at the US Open tonight—and we couldn't be more excited to watch! 🎾

The Ninjas Archival Produced In the Arena: Serena Williams in 2024, a deeply personal documentary following Serena's 27-year career and her most meaningful Grand Slam appearances.

The project was one of our most challenging and rewarding—facing an archival budget overrun of nearly double the original estimate, our team found creative solutions through strategic sourcing, vendor negotiation, and innovative use of photography to tell Serena's story without compromising the film's visual power.

The result? Archival costs were cut in half, and the film premiered at Tribeca and earned a Sports Emmy nomination for Outstanding Documentary Series.

Watching Serena take the court tonight as a reminder of why archival storytelling matters—her legacy deserves to be told right, and we're proud we got to be part of it. 🎬

Check out this clip from The Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift. 🎬

Between 2001 and 2010, a series of targeted killings left investigators searching for answers. The victims were separated by thousands of miles—but shared one connection: they were all associated with Hooters. This two-hour documentary unravels the tragic cases, exposing how young women linked to the iconic restaurant chain were preyed upon over the course of a decade.

The Ninjas handled all archival research, rights, and clearances for this documentary—tracking down footage and materials that help tell this important story.

Tune in Monday, September 7 at 8/7c on @Oxygen True Crime.
