52. First real modeling attempt. Here’s the truth.

I’m a wife. A mother to three. A daughter to a dad with Parkinson’s and dementia. I run a nonprofit @heatherswaynonprofit that’s put over $1.5M toward people rebuilding their lives after treatment. Every one of those roles asks me to give — not a little, a lot, and I do it because I choose to.

This is different. This is the one thing I’m doing that isn’t for anyone else. Not my kids, not my husband, not my dad, not the mission. Just me, deciding at 52 that I still get to try something new and be scared doing it. I started to look into this with help from @next_chapter_collective_ and @adriennearieff

I’ve noticed not everyone loves that. I don’t fully understand it, but I’ve stopped needing to. This isn’t a midlife crisis. It’s a woman who spends her life pouring into others, keeping one cup for herself.

If that’s uncomfortable for you to watch, I get it. It was uncomfortable for me to start.

She dressed Jackie. And Mamie. And Pat, Betty, Rosalynn, and Barbara. Six First Ladies wore Adele Simpson — the woman fashion press once called “the American Chanel.” ✨
I found this 1980s shirtwaist and the moment I put it on, I understood why she had such staying power. The shoulder, the waist, those gold buttons — it’s the kind of tailoring that doesn’t exist anymore unless you go looking for it. Vintage has a way of fitting like it was waiting for you.

A night out at the Union League for a holiday celebration with dear friends ✨
There’s something about being surrounded by all that Philadelphia history that makes you want to dress with intention…

So I finally did it. Debuted my 1960s three-piece purple wool set—cape, fur collar and all. Ridiculous? Yes. Fabulous? Absolutely. I found it at the @thevintageshow from the adorable @messyjessyvtg ages ago and never had the nerve to wear it… until tonight.

Sometimes you just have to put the damn outfit on. 💜

Popped into @mainlineshift in Narberth today at Kimberly’s invitation to try on and style some of their upcycled clothing, and Kimberly, the owner, is amazing. The work she’s doing here is so necessary. 🌎

I first landed here for their upcycled pop-up clothing event several months ago, only to discover I could get all of my clean, earth-friendly products for the home and body in one place. They’ll fill your own containers, or you can grab one of their upcycled or recycled ones. We love everything we’ve gotten, and we have completely made the shift (pun intended). ♻️
Beyond the clean products for your home, they carry upcycled home goods, clothing, jewelry, glassware, and all kinds of knickknacks. Just really neat things.

This is a two-part video. Part two is so long because I talked through the whole thing and couldn’t speed it up. Whoops!

As the name says, it’s all about a shift. You don’t have to change everything at once. A small shift can really impact our earth.

Rainy Monday, foggy brain ☔ Running on maybe half a cup of coffee and zero coherent sentences today, but the outfit came together even if I didn’t 🧥
I am done with my @alo marathon and back to my #ootd

Trench weather is the best weather — layered this over a simple button-up with a skirt I keep reaching for lately. Boots, bag, and a belt to cinch it all in and pretend I have it together. Also just realized the trench not H&M. It’s @uniqlousa !!!!!

Running out the door. Got stuff to do! Today’s nothing but ALO is more like street clothes. I got these pants a few few years back. They’re super fun very comfortable and I find them to be pretty chic.
We’re running out of time, friends only one more day! Stay tuned for later, though I’ll be double dipping for an evening workout 🏋️

Day 8 of nothing but @alo @aloyoga 💗

Full-blown menopause brain has arrived. I genuinely can’t keep track of what day it is or which outfit I’ve already worn, so yes, I’m fairly sure this pink set is making a repeat appearance. 🙃

Why every day? Because women my age wear Alo, sweat in Alo, and live in Alo, and I want to see us in the campaigns too. @aloyoga, I’m still here and still showing up.

Day 6 of nothing but Alo, and the weather said fleece. 🧸
This one makes me feel like a very chic teddy bear, and I’m not mad about it.
New here? I’m wearing only Alo every day to make a point: women over 50 live in this stuff, and we’d love to see ourselves in the campaigns too.
