In 2025 I felt them all, the emotions, the deepness of friendships, the children's hopes, the tragedies of the world, the resistance on the streets.
This year marked 10 incredibly happy years with Ian, my unmeasurably honest, caring, loving, hard-working partner in life 🫶 He deserves the first pic in this carousel.
2025 was also the year I had my first panic attack, long nights crying after writing with people in Gaza, the year I felt the most the distance with many of my closest friends who would never spend a single word on this topic. I balanced this out mainly with a lot of pizza, but also with talking to my Italian friends who so fiercely demonstrated in their cities & sincerely gave me hope, with enriching work & family travels. and also: quality time with my mother, children, friends, colleagues.
2026 will be the year of big changes, moving out of the city, the big child starting school, living in a smaller place 🎢 It will be challenging, but the excitement of trying out this new kind of community life is higher ;) by @ari_unlearning

The best book I read in a long time.
Thank you so much @celinecelines for having brought this treasure to life.

On one hand I learnt incredibly much about Lebanese culture, war collective trauma, paradigms of indigenous culture erasure, radical generosity (and so much more!!). On the other hand I could identify myself with many of the topics and stories told, as a woman, as a mother of a rebel child, as an immigrant, as the grandchild of war traumatized grandparents, as creator of new societal futures.

I´m publishing some single pearls of wisdom from the book here, just as drops for reflection and to awaken interest. I strongly suggest everyone reading this caption, to go and buy the book today. To support this amazing woman in spreading her incredible message, to learn and unlearn about war, trauma, healing, radical imagination.

I usually lend my books, but this one will stay in my home, as I want everyone here to read it and pass it over to the next generations. It will also stay here for me. To comfort and motivate me whenever I´m going to be blocked by the sense of impotence, whenever I´ll feel too small to change something.

These pages contain the essence of all: “Healing is the foundation of imagination and collective liberation“.

This is maybe the most truthful picture someone ever took of me. Thank you @berndbrundert

Me not looking in the camera, but looking towards the future, with optimism and trust. Me, having fun listening to the stories of others, always eager to learn and unlearn. Me, with the head full of ideas and emotions, trying to bridge these with some sense of realism to create tangible projects that can impact this world.

It was a tough year this 2024. Emotionally shaped by world events that I try to elaborate whilst trapped in a mostly powerless position. It was a year in which I had to take responsibility to speak up about these events, because friends and family mostly ignored them. I had to take courage to speak up for human rights values even with my life partner and make very clear that I will not anymore accept any profound relationship with people not acknowledging the ongoing genocide of Palestinian people and the impunity with which Israel and the Global North keep on acting (ethnically cleansing) to keep peoples and resources under their control. It was tough, really, as I would have never ever thought to find so much resistance and voluntarily closed eyes for such a straight-forward reality of facts. It was good, as well, to live close to my values and inspire others to do so as well, make my relationships grow to a higher WE, which we desperately need for collective liberation.

2024 was also an exceptionally privileged year. One in which I could look at world tragedies sitting in the comfort of my warm living room, surrounded by healthy and not endangered family members. My two little boys grew up fast this year, in abundance of love, friends and emotional safety.

As family, we also spent 2024 taking big decisions: The one of moving out of Berlin and our beloved WG and house, to join a community of like-minded people in Brandenburg. The one of starting a systemic pedagogical therapy to get more adequate parenting tools to guide our older son in the best way possible in his emotionally bumpy way. 👉 The message goes on in the comments. by @ari_unlearning

This pic has been taken by my friend Aqui @dallaekhorsani in London in 2018. This was the time in which my UNLEARNING process started. Aqui would put in discussion all the time every single institution, value, history concept, everyday aspects I believed in. We had very intense, but also extremely exhausting conversations on topics such as decolonization, world order, art, heritage, patriarchy, gender, sustainability. Most of the time I would only try to defend my own (very westernized) knowledge, culture and sense of history, feeling treated unfairly by her - as she was just disrupting everything I knew through very good, history-proofed argumentations - and I felt attacked. But we both did not give up and became friends and grew together over the years. She has since the time in London sparkled in me this urgency of questioning everything and change perspectives and frameworks to include different points of view and different narratives of history and sustainability. I changed my name today from Sustainability to Unlearning, as I feel I’m not owning any Sustainable Concept that I can share with others, but in fact the only think I can share is my path through Unlearning. 🫶 thank you Aqui 🫶 by @ari_unlearning

Looking back at 2023: It was such a fantastic - and privileged- year for us. I’m so grateful for everything that happened (there were surely more ups than downs) and for every single person with whom I share this full life. And for having managed to see the sea one more time 🫶
Welcome 2024 ❤️ I hope you will be a year full of peace and compassion and love. taken in Ancona, Italy by @ari_unlearning

Enea is 6 weeks old. Another Wochenbett is over with its hormonal ups & downs, so much family, big brothers&sisters, a lot of laughing, and, on top of everything, a lot of crying 😂 Anyway I enjoyed and I’m enjoying every bit of this unique time. It is actually like to live in a timeless space. It was definitely a good decision to take parental leave this time 😏 taken in Berlin, Germany by @ari_unlearning

Throw back to last month, when I was in Pakistan with @closedloopfashion to kick-start a 2 years PPP project 🎉
.
What a fantastic experience and what a wonderful & welcoming culture!
.
The project is about improving resource efficiency, carbon footprint and environmental sustainability of the humanitarian aid sector through optimizing textile waste management and utilizing recycled feedstock for the production of disaster relief blankets in Pakistan💪 On the long run, we are going to support NGOs of any size to produce more sustainable and circular humanitarian relief products for refugees worldwide 🚀
.
We started with a Textile Waste Mapping of the factories. My favorite part, when I get to go around with my clipboard ✏️📋 asking questions about waste 😍 I can just say it was fascinating (and awesome to think about what to do with the waste and how to build up new supply chains for recycling!!)
.
Thank you Marina Chahboune @niluhmarinachahboune for involving me in this project and pushing me to visit this wonderful country! (And for Most of the pics that I’m posting here! 📸)
And thanks to the factories and their fantastic employees in supporting and believing in our work and for the delicious tea ☕️ all along the way! And of course this project would not be possible without the financial support of the German Investment and Development Corporation (DEG) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
