PJ, April 13 2020 - September 13 2026
i have tried for days now to write about my sweet baby boy and every time, words fail. it feels so cruel that i have to eulogize him at all, that i have to remember who he was instead of getting to see who he’s going to be. though his spark lives on within us forever, my world has gone dark without PJ’s light.

there is so much to say for the first pet a girl gets on her own. i finally understood what it meant to have a familiar. he loved me unconditionally, through every moment of my life, without expectation or judgement. PJ saw me through harmful friendships and tumultuous living situations, and he also saw me through great successes, necessary (even if painful) growth, and falling in love. there were so many times that he could have given up or let go, but he stayed steadfastly by my side, forever forgiving my anger, absorbing my depression, and offering me hope for the future. there were many days that i did it all for PJ and without him, i don’t think i would’ve come this far. when it was finally his time to go, he knew he could succumb because he was leaving me in the good and loving hands (and paws) of Syd and Donna. he knew i would be okay without him, even though i am definitely not.

PJ struggled early in his life. from the age of 3, we were constantly at the vet, whether it was for major surgery or a monthly injection. i want to thank @campus.estates.animal.hospital for providing Peej the absolute best care, right up until his very last moments. whenever we would call to make an appointment, the techs on the phone knew who we were because they loved PJ so much. it took us several doctors to confirm that PJ had a heart murmur because any time they started to touch him for an examination, he would start purring. that’s the kind of boy that PJ was. he loved before being loved, he gave without being given.

i wish i had photos with everyone person that he loved, and who loved him. there will never be enough pictures or words to describe the impact he had. thank you to everyone who did and continues to love him.

Saturday, August 16th, 2025. The day I will remember forever.

Pt 1: The Proposal

Sydney, my sweet fiancée (I’m still not used to that; I’m still giddy every time I say it). You are the absolute light of my life. My soulmate in every universe. We were destined for each other before even the first star was in the sky, and I will continue to love you far after the final star explodes.

I am so immensely grateful and surrounded by so much love it’s palpable. I cannot believe how much work went into making this perfect - and that’s exactly what it was.

Perfect.

The easiest yes of my entire life.

Thank you to my soon-to-be sister (in-law), Leah, for creating the absolute magical fairy tale scape in the place where we had our first date.

Sam and Lee - sweet darling angels who came all the way from Toronto and who have been so special to me for so many years. Thank you for seeing me through all my different stages and continuing to love me. Lee, these photos are beyond beautiful, your talent is cemented in our lives forever.

To (one of) my bestie(s), Kirsty, who flew over 5000 km to witness our joy. You’ve filled my life with silliness and love and I can’t wait for you to continue being in each others lives forever.

Pt 3: Now It’s Really Official

My love, I’ve been yours since day one, with or without a ring. I know that our love needs no proof. It is still the honour of a lifetime to be able to show you, in so many different ways, how much you mean to me and how long we will love each other (it’s forever btw). You are my sweet pearl girl, my shining diamond, my everything. We’re just getting started and I’m so fuckin excited for where we’re going❤️
