There are moments in filmmaking when you meet someone and you just know.

From the very beginning of casting All the Things the Wind Took in California, I knew @ariplane was the right person to bring the Mythical Creature to life.

And then she showed up and did exactly that.

She didn’t simply play the Mythical Creature.
She brought her to life.

It was a true honor and joy directing Ari. She made my job easy. There are artists you simply have to give the space to be themselves; Ari was one of those artists.

She embodies the art.

I watched her step into this strange little world we had imagined, completely commit to the character, and somehow make the Mythical Creature feel like she had always existed.

And yes... she rode that horse — our Unicorn — to perfection 😁🙏🏾🐴

Beyond the performance, Ari was everything you hope for in a collaborator: professional, kind, hardworking, generous, and completely committed to the work.

Ari, thank you for trusting me, trusting the character, and giving her a life.

I’m so grateful that our paths crossed because of this film.

The Mythical Creature could only have been her 🙏🏾

And if you’d like to meet the world we created together, All the Things the Wind Took in California is now available to watch.
