POTW 🫶

This project has been one of the most special and meaningful projects I’ve been able to be a part of. From filming in the beautiful mountains and beaches to the redwood forests of California, @peopleofthewestseries has a special place in my heart.

“The stories are our maps. They show us how to live and what to value.”

We have so much to learn from our indigenous ancestors. And as one story is told, I’ve seen how all our stories need to be shared. From displaced cultures and stories of assimilation, I cannot stress how deeply important it is to make sure native voices are seen, heard and truly understood.

Much love to all the cast, crew and lifelong friends I’ve made during those 3 months that I’ve had the pleasure of doing this with. I had the time of my life working on this! One of the most beautiful, heartfelt, and important series I’ve been able to be a part of. Honored to help bring your story to life.

Look 7: layers of summer, hope

We saw the making of this skirt a lil bit ago!
The skirt is made up of 4 underdress slip skirts, the kinds our grandmas used to wear. And two slip dresses dye with coffee to match the others! I played around with the layering of these a few times and landed on this beautiful princess a pea style skirt!

The top is made with a similar layering technique. I used the lapels off of some, really interesting, suit jackets I got from @salvationarmyoc I layered it up the one side to create an asymmetrical vest!

Both of these pieces are completely hand sewn together! Which my fingers are still recovering from but was well worth it to get the layering right, hand sewing for life lol

had the privilege of capturing some behind the scenes moments of @threadhausco’s eco show in collaboration with @salvationarmythriftstoreuswest for @sustainablefashionweekus

shows like this take so much effort, collaboration and hard work, including a wide range of volunteers, students, and professors from @smcfashiondepartment, our amazing team with @zoganicstudio from AZ and people from all over LA to make this happen. sustainability and reuse is so important in this era of AI and fast fashion, and nothing beats the hard work and creativity of all the designers who put together these collections. finally, shoutout to all of the models, hair and makeup, all the other media @cullenslense @fy.photographie @kori_elmore2 and more and all of the staff behind the scenes who made it possible. the runway doesn’t happen without everyone behind the curtain 💗
