This shoot with Maryana is so special to me in hindsight. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it was capturing a particular moment beyond just the evening light. It was just before I left for Provence, the catalyst for many changes to come. Evening light that I thought was just an early, hurried sunset, but was actually an analogy for a new kind of day around the corner for me. I was in a phase of saying yes first and trusting the timing to catch up. And it did, slowly and then all at once. But I had to live the first change to believe I was capable of the next. That’s the rhythm I’ve found myself in now, everyday watching something overwhelming become familiar, just as the shock wears off. Life doesn’t wait for you to be ready or give permission, it just keeps moving, and somehow you swim along with it. Looking at these photos like they’re another lifetime, reminding myself that’s me, too. Cheers to always becoming ourselves. ♥️ @eyitsem the perfect candidate to capture these days by @arisamaede

I’ve had it on my mind to paint a lil plum. I came across a poem by Gayle Brandeis that might be my new favorite poem. And behold, it’s a plum poem. I put these two together for what seems like a simple little artwork but it’s been profoundly encouraging to me to be reminded of two things:

Things can get better even when we are so far away from the vision we can’t imagine it.
&
There’s beauty and deep meaning in even the smallest bits of enjoyment of everyday life.

Out of state friends were out of country visitors
Coffee became a ceremony

«À Travers Les Couches» what a beautiful night. Layers in the artworks, the display, the themes… and then came layers of food, conversation, languages, interpretations.

Beaumont de Pertuis has left me glad to be human. 🤍 These series are just a small glimpse of the deep interconnectedness this town has shown me. by @arisamaede
