Last week I was so excited to have been invited to @ukhouseoflords as a young author along with my mummy @dontwateryourselfdown the founder of @liveluxwells

The event was hosted by @britainsmallbiz and it was amazing to share my books with Michelle Ovens CBE, the Founder of Small Business Britain, and the Minister for Small Business & Economic Transformation @blairforeastren MP.

I had such a lovely time and was also able to tour the grounds and learn some very interesting historical facts about the building.

Maybe I should write a book about it, do you think I should?

Her mum told her she could be anything she wanted to be. So, she became an author. 📚✨

Meet Aria @arisanauthor one of the young authors who joined us at the Black British Book Festival, and a rising star in the world of publishing. 🌟

At BBBF, we’re proud to champion young voices, big imaginations and the next generation of storytellers.

The future of publishing is already here. And she’s writing it.

I had the most amazing time meeting @sirmofarah this week! 🥳

He talked about his life and the many challenging journeys it took to get to where we see him today.

I recently saw a clip of him at the 2016 Rio Olympics and during the race he fell over. For many, that would have been it, BUT @sirmofarah not only got back up AND kept running, but he actually WON!🏃🏾‍♂️‍➡️

I thought that was such an incredible moment to watch, because although it happened 10 years ago, (before I was even born), I’m sure it was as exciting for me to see now as it was to everyone else who saw it then.

I learnt such an important lesson about not giving up, even when things are hard and you fall down - ALWAYS get back up and keep going! That’s a message that will always carry through time.

When I asked @sirmofarah what made him keep going, he told me that he had promised his daughter that he would win a medal for her, and he didn’t want to let her down by not keeping his promise. 🥇

How special is that!? 🥲

So, if you’ve made any promises lately, especially to yourself about doing something big or small that is important to you, don’t break your promise even if it feels hard to keep going.

Thank you so much @sirmofarah for sharing your story, as well as taking the time to speak with me, AND signing all 3 of your lovely books, which I have just started reading. 📚
Hopefully you will enjoy my books too, especially ‘Run for fun’. 🏃🏾‍♀️‍➡️

Thank you also to @therealnihal for being such a great host and to @easterncityldn for allowing me to attend, we appreciate it so much! 💫 by @arisanauthor

🌟📚 MEET 9-YEAR-OLD AUTHOR ARIA BAKER-CHUKWUEMEKA AT THE CHILDREN’S BLACK BOOK FAIR UK! 📚🌟

At just 9 years old, Ara @arisanauthor is already the author of two books, with her third on the way! ✍🏾✨

Her inspiring author journey began when she was finding reading challenging. To support her, her mum started spending more time with her in libraries and bookshops, allowing Aria to choose books that genuinely interested and excited her.

After discovering her new favourite reads, Aria began attending book signings and meeting the authors behind the stories she loved. Seeing the faces behind the names on those book covers sparked a dream, she wanted to become an author too! 💫

For her 6th birthday, Aria asked for a typewriter so she could start creating her own stories.

And she hasn’t stopped writing since! ❤️📖

📕 At 7, she published her first book, The Moon That Forgot to Go to Bed.

📗 At 8, she released Run for Fun.

📘 Now at 9, Aria is preparing to release her third book, My High Fly, later this year with even more books still to come!

✨ Now it’s your opportunity to meet Aria in person!

Join us at the Children’s Black Book Fair UK and meet this incredible young author, discover her books and celebrate the next generation of Black literary talent. 📚✊🏾

Aria’s journey reminds us why spaces like the Children’s Black Book Fair matter, children need opportunities to see authors, meet authors and realise that they can become authors too.

Children’s Black Book Fair UK
Saturday, 22 August 2026
12 PM – 4 PM
CLR James Library, Hackney

Come and celebrate Black stories, Black authors and our brilliant young storytellers! 🖤📚✨

I’m so thrilled to share that I have been featured in this week’s edition of The Week Junior!!! 🥳

This is such a proud moment to share as it highlights that anyone can start with something difficult (which in my case was finding my reading challenging), yet turn it into a triumph, not just for yourself, but for others to also see just what’s possible if you don’t give up and continue to believe in yourself!

Thank you to the wonderful @theweekjunior team for all of your amazing support! 🎉

You can find my article on page 11, which celebrates amazing People stories. I really hope you enjoy!📚

One of my favourite things about being an author is attending kidpreneur pop ups!

There is so much encouragement from the families that attend to support and I love watching the kids skipping away with my books in hand. 📚

Thanks so much @kidzfair for another great time @high_chelmer shopping centre, can’t wait until next time!!
