Coach Lexis YB-James, M.S., B.S., is the Executive Director of Operations for the Arkansas Storm youth organization. She believes in the importance of education just as much as basketball and emphasizes that players are student-athletes—even during the summer.

Coach James founded the organization in 2021 with just $1,200. Thanks to her dedication, it has grown rapidly and now serves more than 200 youth annually. She is also the head boys’ basketball coach at a well-known local middle school, where she continues to make a significant impact.

In her downtime, Coach James enjoys spending quality time with her wife, practicing relaxation techniques 🧘🏾‍♀️, and traveling the world 🌎✈️.

🐻📚⚡️UCA Bear Facts Day
This was a great opportunity for high school students to experience what life on campus could look like! Students had the chance to explore campus, enjoy a meal in the dining hall, win prizes, ask questions related to their majors, and even participate in a scholarship drawing for all students who attended! 🎓

We were especially excited to see Donovan Tidwell, an Arkansas Storm Educational Sport Organization alum, in attendance! It’s always great to see our alumni continuing to grow, lead, and make intentional decisions about their future. We’re proud to see Donovan expanding his leadership journey and choosing the University of Central Arkansas as his university home! 🐻

📅 The next UCA Bear Facts Day is coming in December 2026! Students interested in attending will be able to register online FREE through the @ucabears website. This is a great opportunity to get on campus, learn more about your future major, connect with UCA, and see if becoming a Bear is the right fit for you!

Director Taylor was able to participate in the Arkansas Public School Resource Center Leadership Lab’s Instructional Leadership Empowerment alongside curriculum facilitators, specialists, and administrators from across the state.

The Leadership Lab provided an opportunity to explore state resources, examine data, and engage in meaningful conversations around instructional practices, leadership development, and ways to better support teachers and students in Arkansas.

As an organization committed to education, mentorship, and student development, Arkansas Storm values opportunities to learn alongside leaders who are helping strengthen schools and communities across Arkansas.
