It’s National Pit Bull Awareness Month! Did you know it can take Pit Bull-type pups 3 times longer than other breeds to be adopted? For Manny, he has been waiting for the perfect place to call his own for over 275 days!

Manny is an enthusiastic one-year-old who loves rolling in the grass, entertaining himself with squeaky toys, and going on car rides. He enjoys making new friends, both people and pups, and bonds hard with those he loves. Manny would benefit from an adopter who can keep up with his structured routine and provide him with the enrichment he needs. Before National Feral Cat Day comes to an end, we want to remind you of the challenges that community cats face every day.

Feral cats are part of a larger population known as “community cats”, and can be found in almost every neighborhood across the country, with over 700,000 living in Massachusetts. These cats face risks of illness and injury, threats of harsh weather and predators, and lack of food and shelter. That’s why in 2017, ARL committed to focusing on these felines, becoming the only large animal welfare organization in MA with a dedicated Community Cat Field Agent. Through our Community Cat Program, we can assess cat colonies and rescue those in need.

Boo is ready to ghost his shelter days! 👻

He may look like he’s ready to haunt, but under the sheet is a sweet, young pup just looking for his new home outside the city. Boo can be nervous at first, but is friendly with both people and pups. He is house trained and knows his basics (ask him to high-five! 😉) He has also lived with older kids & cats.

Meet Lionel! 🐾

If there were an award for the best game of fetch, Lionel would take home the gold! 🥇

This playful pup absolutely LOVES his toys and could spend hours chasing them, tossing them around, and proudly carrying them in his mouth. He’ll even drop them at your feet and patiently wait for you to throw them again!

Lionel is a smart, eager-to-learn boy who has made great progress with his training. He’s mastered basic cues like “sit” and “down” and is working on “stay.” With his compact size and adventurous spirit, Lionel is always ready for some fun! He loves the water and would make a great companion for hikes, long walks, and outdoor adventures.

Lionel is currently enjoying life in a foster home, but interested adopters can arrange a meet-and-greet or stop by the @arlboston Boston Animal Care & Adoption Center on Saturdays and Sundays during adoption hours to meet him. ❤️🐕

Kevin may have a little wobble in his walk, but with some support from you, he can continue to thrive! 🐱

As the only surviving kitten in his litter, Kevin has been through more than any little guy should. He was then diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), a neurological condition that affects balance and coordination. Despite all of this, it hasn’t slowed him down! Now thriving in foster care, Kevin is showing everyone that even with a wobble, you can go a long way when you have the support to keep you steady.

**Update: adopted!!** Meet Mango 🥭

This active, little guy is ready to be the sweetest part of your life! Mango is a 5 year old delightful pup who loves going on sniff walks and investigating new smells. He enjoys making new friends, but appreciates patience as he warms up. He would do best in a home without young kids, but could be okay with other dogs or cats. If you think Mango could be a fruitful addition to your family, come meet him until 6:00pm at our Dedham location (55 Anna’s Pl).

Meet Reese! This handsome guy is just under 2 years old and looking to find an active adopter ready to bring some Golden energy into their life. Reese is friendly with everyone he meets. He also loves other dogs—unfortunately, they don’t always feel the same. He can be a little overenthusiastic when meeting other pups, so he’ll benefit from slow, thoughtful introductions as he works on his manners.
