Daggermouth - H.M. Wolfe

Although romantasy isn't a genre I enjoy often anymore, this book was definitely written with more of a dystopian fantasy style while still including a lot of steamy romance. I really enjoyed the writing, concise world building, and cast of characters with more than enough drama to keep me glued to the page. The story and writing gets a little loose a bit more than halfway in, but the end makes up for it and leaves the story on a high note. ✨4/5✨

You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty - Awaeke Emezi

A completely wild ride with tons of steamy moments, drama, and complicated relationships. While on the surface, the book is pure drama, I really enjoyed the ever present theme of learning to live life for yourself and finding love in unexpected (even if more than slightly inappropriate) places. ✨3/5✨

Blackshirts and Reds - Michael Parenti

An extremely educational book that reframes and rein-forms the reader about the recent history of the United States from a war, capitalist and anti-communist lens. Informative, dark, and ultimately gut wrenching. ✨4/5✨

There There - Tommy Orange

A beautiful book exploring the personal and cultural histories of several characters as they prepare to attend a major cultural event. While the event is the cornerstone of the novel, the recurring threads of the backgrounds of the characters, expertly woven together is by far the most emotional aspect for me. An inspiring and reflective read, I definitely want to reread as I lost track of some of the characters and their connections at some points. ✨4/5✨
