Sound baths + breathwork + coaching + workshops for people seeking more presence in a distracted world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Our monthly sound bath at @the.moon.sanctuary has given us a space to experiment with deepening the experience we create for our guests.

At our last event, we introduced something I’ve been dreaming of for a long time: adding a live musical element to the opening relaxation and visualization.

I like to open every sound bath with breath, embodiment, and often a yoga nidra style visualization. This gives people time to truly drop in and get present, especially when they’ve arrived after a busy day.

Guiding this while playing instruments can be challenging, so I’d often rely on pre-recorded music to play in the background. It felt ok, but didn’t get to the level of I truly desired.

But now…. now we have Alex, who is a talented guitar player. He created a customized sonic journey that supported the opening visualization, surrounding guests in a blanket of deep, rich sounds to accompany them on their journey.

We thought it would be good, but it was even richer than we expected! We loved it so much that Alex recorded a version of himself playing it that we’ve been using to lull ourselves to sleep at night. Bliss! We may make these available for others to experience soon….

Alex has some fun new equipment to further develop the sounds he creates, and we’ll be using that to take our guests deeply inward at our next sound bath on November 2nd. It’s a night dedicated to honoring and connecting with the people and pets who are no longer with us. You will not want to miss this one. Now is a good time to grab your 🎟️. - MDG by @arrivocollective

Some ways to celebrate Italian American Heritage and Culture Month 🇮🇹

In honor of the month, here are some suggestions from a couple of Italian American kids living in LA, who adore their heritage (and also think it’s ok if we let go of celebrating some parts of it.)

🎬 Watch a great Italian film. We love The Great Beauty (La Grande Bellezza), but there are decades of extraordinary Italian cinema to explore.

🇮🇹 Support @garibaldinasociety - one of LA’s historic Italian American cultural institutions. Buy a ticket for the upcoming Pasta Grannies event with @nowservingla and @kcrw on October 18th. Or donate to help this nearly 150-year-old nonprofit preserve its historic building

🍪 Stop by Eagle Rock Italian Bakery & Deli for some of the best Italian cookies in LA. Get a dozen. Tell yourself they’ll last the week.

🍝 Head to Pinocchio’s and Monte Carlo Italian Deli in Burbank for some gloriously old-school Italian American food, and stock up on all the imported Italian goodies you didn’t know you needed.

🪩 Put on some Italo Disco. Turn it up. Dance around your kitchen. Bonus points for questionable 1980s fashion choices.

🍅 Call your Nonna and ask her for a recipe. Chances are she won’t have written it down, so take the time to record it. And if she’s nearby, go one step further and prepare it together. And if your Nonna is no longer with us, make something that reminds you of her.

📖 Learn something about Italian American history beyond the handful of names we all grew up hearing. @italianamericanmuseumofla located in downtown is a great place to continue your education.

Buon mese del patrimonio italiano-americano! 🇮🇹

Introducing Those Who Came Before Us — A Sound Bath Celebrating Love, Life & Remembrance. 🧡 This one is especially close to our hearts.

On November 2nd, we’re gathering to celebrate the lives of those who came before us, drawing inspiration from the Italian traditions of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, and the many cultures around the world that set aside time to honor and remember those who have passed.

We are making a special space in this gathering to honor the animals who have shared our lives. This year, we experienced the devastating loss of our beloved Lola, and we’ve been reminded how deeply these little creatures become part of our families, our daily rituals, and our understanding of love.

Together, we’ll use sound, breath and guided visualization to honor the paths that brought us here, remember those who walked alongside us, and explore how we can keep those connections alive; even when those we love are no longer physically with us.

Whatever your ancestry, cultural background or spiritual beliefs, you’re welcome to bring your own stories, memories and loved ones into this gathering.

Last night’s The Return sound bath took us on a journey we weren’t expecting.

Just before leaving home, we witnessed the tragic death of a neighborhood cat who made our apartment complex his home. We arrived at the sound bath carrying the sadness of what we’d experienced, and wondering how to hold space for others when we felt unsteady ourselves.

And so we leaned into it. We experimented with live music (yay Alex), introduced a yoga nidra-inspired visualization, changed up our usual sonic journey, and allowed ourselves to move through some intense emotions. We trusted the messiness of it all, and the wonderful people who shared it with us.

There’s something fitting about a gathering called The Return reminding us that we can show up exactly as we are: with our sadness, with our shakiness, in our imperfection.

That brings us to our next sound bath, happening on November 2nd. It’s inspired by the Italian traditions of remembrance surrounding All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, as well as the many cultures that honor those who came before us at this time of year.

After a season in which we’ve personally experienced loss, particularly of our beloved animals, this upcoming sound bath is especially close to our hearts. We’ll gather to honor the people and animals whose lives have touched ours, and explore the ways we can continue to feel connected to them after they’re gone.

🎟️ are now live at the 🔗 . 8 spots. Snag yours soon. We’d love to have you join us. 🖤

And RIP to Murphy the cat. 🐈 -MDG taken in Atwater Village by @arrivocollective

Melissa said something on this episode that’s been sitting with us all week:

Healing was never about escaping to somewhere else.
There’s a version of the wellness world that sells you transcendence like it’s the whole point. Get high enough, evolved enough, “healed” enough that you float above the mess of being human.

Melissa’s work with Arrivo Collective points somewhere different. The real work isn’t leaving yourself behind. It’s arriving home to who you already are.

That distinction changes everything about how you approach growth. One version keeps you chasing. The other lets you land.

Full conversation is in the works! In the meantime, listen to our latest episode. Link in bio. ☕

What if you’re seeking something that isn’t out there somewhere far away? What if it’s inside of you, and all you need to do is allow yourself to notice it’s right there?

Your wild and free nature. Your power, your passion, your purpose. It’s not something you have to add. You arrived here with it.

Saturday, on the heels of the Fall Equinox, the Harvest Moon will have its yearly debut in the night sky, with Saturn just below it. Lucky for us, the moon will rise soon after sunset for most of the weekend, giving us a little extra time to enjoy its magical fullness.

Take a moment in the early evening and look up. Take a breath. Soak it in.

Join us Monday, September 28th, for THE RETURN, our September sound bath in Atwater Village. Let the sounds bring you back to who you’ve always been.

Community! Connection! Laughter! Joy! Parakeets! 💕🤩

This is us walking (and biking) our talk as we launch our new business. 🚲

We’ve been getting our website and marketing up and running, and we were feeling trapped behind our computers. So we grabbed postcards, jumped one our bikes, and headed out to do some good, old-fashioned local promotion.

Ok, stick with us here because while this may sound like a basic AF idea, it ended up being such a fulfilling way of spreading the word about Arrivo Collective. We chatted with our favorite small business folks, bumped into friends, and soaked up some Vitamin D while riding our bikes.

It was the opposite energy of battling with website interfaces and dodging sales calls from Yelp. It felt like community, connection, and genuine joy… which are all values we hold dear at Arrivo Collective.

So while we may *not* be sharing the most cutting-edge marketing lesson, we hope this inspires you to think about the many ways you can build a business that reflects your values and feels like you, and not just some algorithmacially driven sales funnel.

The Fall Equinox is here, marking one of two moments in the year when day and night are nearly equal.

For thousands of years, humans have paid attention to these shifts in the natural world, and we think there’s something worthwhile about continuing that tradition. The idea of creating an equinox ritual can seem like a lot, but there’s nothing elaborate required to take a pause and notice what’s changing with the season.

Go outside and feel the earth beneath your feet. Watch the sun as it slips behind the horizon. Share a meal with someone you care about. Light a candle, and set an intention for something you’d like to harvest in the months ahead.

Acknowledge what has arrived for you so far this year, and give some gratitude for both the light and the dark.

Here at Arrivo Collective, we take a lot of inspiration from the natural world, and we’re lucky that our neighborhood in Los Angeles is teeming with flora and fauna. As humans, we often see plants and trees as something to prune, and animals as pests to be pushed to the peripheries. We prefer to see them as our teachers.

Recently, we had a little lesson in community from some of our avian friends. One of our favorite sights each evening is the crows who fly in from miles around to sleep in the trees near our home. Crows don’t see particularly well at night, so they gather in large groups and “roost” together for safety and warmth. As they perch in the branches and chatter away, they’re also socializing and, researchers believe, exchanging information about things like where to find food.

There’s something we find deeply moving about this nightly ritual. After spending the day scattered across the city, tending to their important crow business, they return to be in community.

This kind of evening gathering has long been part of the human experience, but the pace of modern life means many of us work late into the evening, encounter other humans mostly through screens, and eat our meals while looking at yet another one.

The crows remind us how special it is to end the day together. To gather as the sun sets, exchange stories from wherever the day has taken us, and experience the safety and warmth that can come from knowing we belong.

Maybe the crows are onto something. 🖤🐦‍⬛ taken in Los Angeles, California by @arrivocollective

On September 28th, we’re gathering at The Moon Sanctuary in Atwater Village for The Return, an intimate sound bath for just eight guests.

We’ll begin slowly, with time to arrive and settle in, before moving into a guided visualization and a live sound bath with crystal singing bowls, gong, percussion, voice and other instruments.

As we slip from summer into fall, this evening is a chance to return to your body, your senses, and whatever has been asking for a little more of your attention. Expect community & connection, a little bit of time to step away from the world, and a whole lot of magic. A most divine way to spend a Monday evening.

Meglio tardi che mai

An Italian phrase that means “better late than never”, and the theme of our end of the season escape to Palm Springs. ☀️

Right after the Summer Solstice, our sweet pup Lola died, and all of our visions for summer disappeared with her. We spent July and August doing very little. It was hard to have fun, to celebrate, to work on our new-born business.

Our society moves fast, and leaves little time for rituals, especially those of mourning. We’re grateful that we could be present with our sadness, and to fully honor our sweet girl’s memory.

As September approached, we felt ready for a break, and a reset before the seasons shift again. So we escaped to Palm Springs for a few days - “meglio tardi che mai”, as the Italians say. While we were there, we indulged in another popular Italian phrase: “dolce far niente” or “the sweetness of doing nothing”. A swim, a nap, a snack. Repeat. 🏊🏼‍♀️ 🌮 😴

The desert in summer is one of my favorite places for this kind of escape. It’s too hot for the spring and fall crowds and everywhere feels delightfully quiet and empty. The warm weather makes it impossible to hustle. It’s the perfect place to cultivate stillness, ease, and rest. It was indeed a sweet few days for our little family to share… perhaps made even sweeter by the waiting.

It’s been a heavy, hot, hard summer for many of us. If you’re seeing this, let it be a gentle reminder that there’s still time to welcome in the sweetness you’ve been seeking. -MDG 💕 taken in Palm Springs, California by @arrivocollective
