oil pastel sgraffito! 🌈✏️

2 posts in a week? Look at me go 😍

Students completed this project by learning techniques of layering, etching, and line making. They were able to include pattern and search different types of artists during our work time. These turned out very fun and they remind me of the rainbow scratch paper I had as a kid! by @artbyellajo

keith haring ! 💫

Students for this project were to create a minimum of six figures in the style of Keith Haring. Each figure should communicate energy and emotion by using expressive poses and showing movement. Students then explored how simple lines and shapes can convey action while incorporating Haring’s bold, playful aesthetic! They had a lot of fun with this project! by @artbyellajo

CONTOUR LINE PORTRAITS 🎨✏️

For this project, students had to create a portrait doing a blind contour line technique, where they could only look at themselves while drawing with one line. By using a continuous line, I was able to show students that not all artworks are perfect, and sometimes it’s okay for them to look a little bit funny! My students had a ton of fun with this project, as they were able to put their personalities and ideas into their artwork without needing them to be completely perfect! 😛 by @artbyellajo

Dear Ms. Christopher,
You’ve been a blessing to us for the last 16 weeks. You rocked your student teaching, and I couldn’t be happier that you chose our school to spend your last Ball State Semester as an Art Educator. You will be a life changer in your next chapter…a fan favorite, I’m sure. I’m so proud of your growth and confidence! Happy LAST DAY (as a student) AND CONGRATULATIONS on your graduation from BSU!!!!! Be sure to come back and visit us!!!!

Today’s Friday Finisher is a long awaited moment for our 7 seniors. Like maybe a 4 year wait for them to set up their own portion of the Art Show❤️ Each student has their own set up with their entire body of work from this year, 11 projects from each Advanced course they are enrolled in. They all wrote an Artist Statement, and labeled their own work. You can see most of their personalities come through in their overall set up too, as some add embellishments and little nods to various memories. What a joy it has been to see these ladies grow in their time here at TLHS. I’m anxiously awaiting the crowd on Sunday, gathered around to see the work these girls have put into these displays and reading through their statements. Along side of their displays are hundreds of pieces from our other students who are not seniors. With the help of Ms. Cristopher, this year was a dream to set up! Proving that teamwork makes the dream work. Don’t forget, we will have light refreshments and artwork from Immanuel, Sauers, and White Creek! Stop in between 1-3pm!!!! See you then!

WE (Ms. Christopher and I) finished our design for this year’s Art Camp t-shirt!!! I’m so in love! And the ART part is white in this picture because it will be what the kids fill in with their own art! So cute. The background is our t-shirt color. All volunteers and all campers will receive a t-shirt. Start thinking of your ideas for ART!!!!! #tlhsart

We invite you to join us at Trinity Lutheran High School for an afternoon full of beauty and talent! Starting at 1pm, enter our building through the doors near the greenhouse, to see our Annual Art Show in the commons. At 2pm the FFA Plant Sale begins in the Greenhouse (the best plants, you don’t want to miss out!). Then beginning at 3pm in our gym (still enter through doors by the greenhouse) it’s the Variety Show! Our students have all been working so hard to bring all of these events to life, they have all been given so many gifts to share. We are all so ready to see you on Sunday. @artbyellajo @tlhsdrama @tlhs_ffa1
Please don’t forget to enter the parking lot through the northern most entrance - see map provided. by @artbyellajo

wanted to share some oil paintings students have done!! 🎨🖼️

I might be a little bit biased, but oil paint is one of my favorite projects to see students do! Here are a couple that we have lined up for the art show, which we are only a few days away from setting up! So excited to see all these students work on display! by @artbyellajo

friday finisher! 🌈

Our students have finally completed their plaster projects, and the creativity has shined through! Seeing their color details in different designs they chose has shown their problem-solving and ways of thinking this week! Plaster is an interesting thing to work with, as you have to be extremely fragile with it, while also having to make changes to it. On Monday, we took our projects outside and sanded them on the concrete to ensure that they would all be able to stand up, and continued the week with painting! Very proud of these students!! ☀️ by @artbyellajo
