Sma’ Shot Day Paisley 2026.

Final shots of the mural.

This was a completely self funded project, painted as a celebration of Paisley, its people and the history of Sma’ Shot Day.

With it being the 40th anniversary of the revival of the procession, the aim was to create something that captured a part of the Sma’ Shot Day on that rainy day this year.

A massive thank you to everyone who helped make it happen along the way.

@tee.vison for documenting the whole thing and putting together the film.

@alkoart for helping get the wall buffed and ready to paint.

@__mboyle for getting the website up and running.

Stuart from across the road for letting us use the church hall on Friday for the event.

And thanks to everyone who stopped for a chat, shouted up from the street, shared the work, came along to the artist talk or supported the project in any way. The response from Paisley has been class.

As the mural was self-funded, signed A3 giclée prints of the original study are available through my website. With the sales helping towards the costs of making the project happen.

Fishermen don’t bother putting lids on buckets of crabs because if one crab seems to be getting out the others will just pull it back in anyway.

This reminds me that we’re all just crabs fighting each other while someone else carries the bucket.

The billionaires and politicians who benefit from division are those carrying the bucket.

Been wanting to paint this spot since I’ve been back in Paisley.

2 advertisement boards been lying blank for ages.

Perfect opportunity to critique the advertisement industry and media in how they dictate what we have to look at on a daily basis.

There has been a bit of deflection to look at non issues by the British media especially recently. taken in Paisley, Renfrewshire by @artbyshaun_dev

Finished pillars for the Kingston Bridge.

Swipe to see the whole shot of the pillars and @astrobloc performing some tunes between them.

Since the pillars were in a row I thought would be a good idea to paint them as one whole piece. Wanted to engage with the idea of distance and separation within the painting as well as physically between the pillars.

Cheers to @yardworksglasgow and the whole team down there for the opportunity and hard work.

The ambient traffic and noise under the Kingston Bridge as part of the @yardworksglasgow project.

Was a nice surprise to see @astrobloc jamming away infront of the pillars after I’d finished painting.

Big thanks to everybody that came to the event on Friday. Was a pure good community feel about the place!

Shoutout to Shaun Moore for his Sma’ Shot poem and sorting out the music, Tommy Kayes for his intro speech and to the Coats for the tunes. Henry on the sax at the end was surreal 😅

And big thanks to everybody that bought prints on the night. Still got some available via my website. Cheers!

Shaun Devenney painted the Sma' Shot mural on Neilston Road. No permission, no funding, no committee he just went and did it to make the place a bit better.

What really stood out to me was how much of it was him on his own. Hired the lift himself, paid for the paint himself, stood up there in the rain for days while folk shouted up at him from the street. Nobody asked him to do it. That's exactly the kind of energy this series is about!

That's why Chapter 5 is on Neilston Road, Paisley. The sma' shot was the thread the weavers never got paid for because nobody could see it, and they struck over it and won.

This one felt like a no-brainer.

Shaun is holding an artist talk this Friday 18th 5pm-6pm across the road at the churchhall from the mural where I think he is selling some original prints of the mural . Go support yer boy !!
