We are over the moon to share that longtime Art Enables resident artist Shawn Payne will have a solo presentation of his work within the American Visionary Art Museum’s upcoming "Flaunt" exhibition!!

"Flaunt: When Appearance Speaks" is the American Visionary Art Museum's 31st major thematic exhibition, featuring 100 works from artists working across a wide range of media. Shawn has been delighting his fans and the general public with his inventive shoe designs for nearly two decades, making bedazzled paintings of boots, sneakers, and - most of all, high heels - that take the form of hamburgers, pyramids, street lamps, town houses, trumpets, film reels and countless other surprising shapes - all with cleverly detailed backgrounds that expand on the thematic world of the shoes. Shawn’s creativity is endless, and we’re so happy for him to be receiving this well-deserved attention at one of our favorite museums. Please join us in congratulating Shawn, and be sure to check out the exhibition during its nearly year-long run. A very fun (ticketed) Exhibition Preview Party will take place on the evening of October 9, with the show opening to the public on October 10, 2026.

Congratulations, Shawn!! 👏 👏 👏 ❤️

Congrats to Art Enables artists Toni Lane, Charmaine Jones, Joel Martinez, Imani Turner, and Duane Blacksheare-Staton on their inclusion in "FotoFocus: Picture Perfect" at Visionaries + Voices in Cincinnati, Ohio! The show opens on 10/2 and runs through 11/13. More info from V+V:

As a part of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial, Visionaries + Voices’s gallery in the Northside Studio will host Picture Perfect, featuring artworks by artists who utilize photography as a starting point and visual reference in their art-making processes.

Multimedia artist and sculptor Brian Dooley depicts images from found, online sources, using non-traditional materials such as Perler Beads and Shrinky Dinks. Painter Ross Bicknaver creates hyperrealistic landscapes from photographs he takes on his smartphone. Antonio Adams poses and photographs friends and mentors, to be subsequently recreated as painted portraits. DC-based artist Charmaine Jones draws portraits of her family directly from their Instagram posts. Painter and photographer Toni Lane uses a photo from her time living in France as a reference for her painting. All of these artists work specifically with photography as their inspirational source: snapshots capturing lived experiences, sublime landscapes, friends and family members, or simply beloved objects, which become the springboard for art-making, allowing the artist a reference point for their ongoing creative practice. taken in Cincinnati, Ohio by @artenables
