A summer walk through AsiaTown.

Shot on the Fuji X100VI—chasing vibrant colors, good light, and a surprise Gundam along the way.

Photos aren’t just nostalgia.

They’re proof we were here.

Artifacts.

Double exposures have a way of turning two ordinary moments into something that never actually existed—but somehow still feels real.

Saw this arch and immediately knew it needed a kickflip.

Shoutout to Jamison for making the vision happen.

Sometimes you don’t find the photo—you recognize it before it exists.

More double exposures

Stumbled across one of Cleveland’s coolest murals—the Gundam wall by Fade Resistant Artist and Bob Peck. It’s one of those pieces that makes you stop, even if you’ve never seen a single episode of Gundam.

Some neighborhoods get historical markers. AsiaTown got a Gundam

More shots from Go Skateboarding Day in Cleveland.

These started with the Deep Blue LUT from Lumix Lab, transitioned into a Leica Monochrome look, and were finished with a few subtle RAW edits to tie everything together.

One thing I’ve really come to appreciate with the Lumix S5IIX is being able to shoot both JPEG and RAW. Most of the time the JPEGs are exactly what I want, but it’s nice knowing I have the RAW files if I decide to push an edit a little further once I get home. That flexibility has made the workflow feel a lot more creative and a lot less time-consuming.

The S5IIX is quietly becoming one of my favorite cameras I’ve ever shot with.

Spent Father’s Day weekend in Cleveland for Go Skateboarding Day.

Brought the Lumix S5IIX and shot everything in Leica Monochrome. No distractions just light, texture, concrete, and moments that would’ve been lost in color.

Shots from the Home Ave DIY event in Dayton.

Captured on my Artifacts Monochrome and Endless Summer Recipes—lots of contrast, texture, and summer light. The kind of show where every corner feels worth photographing.

A few of my favorite frames are the double exposures at the end. Sometimes the accidents are the best part.

Everyone talks about Fujifilm recipes like they’re the magic trick.

And honestly, I get it.

The X100VI makes nostalgia feel accessible. Warm highlights. Soft shadows. Colors that feel remembered instead of rendered.

But recipes aren’t the only trick up this camera’s sleeve.

The real magic is how it invites experimentation.

Double exposures are where things start to feel different.

Instead of capturing a single moment, you’re blending two together in camera.

And there’s no “right” way to do it.

The X100VI makes experimentation feel easy — more like sketching than shooting.

These images weren’t edited later in Photoshop. They were made in camera. One frame layered over another.

That’s what makes double exposures so addictive.

The camera doesn’t just emulate film.

It changes the way you shoot.

Artifacts Monochrome

Inspired by classic monochrome photography, this recipe focuses on light, texture, and atmosphere over technical perfection. Deep blacks, soft highlights, restrained contrast, and subtle grain create timeless black-and-white images.

Best used for:
• Overcast weather
• Street and documentary photography
• Portraits with texture
• Shadows, rain, and negative space

It works best slightly underexposed, embracing mood and imperfection over clean precision.

Recommended settings:
• ISO 800–3200
• f4–f8
• Slight negative exposure compensation

Not nostalgia.
Unfinished business.

These photos were shot with a mindset more than a recipe.

Warm sidewalks. Long shadows. Soft contrast. Slight grain. Colors that feel sun faded instead of digitally perfect.

If you want that disposable film feeling, stop chasing razor thin depth of field all the time.

A look like this lives closer to f8.

Not because it is technically perfect, but because it feels honest.

Disposable cameras rarely isolated subjects with creamy backgrounds. Everything existed together. The people. The street. The atmosphere. The moment.

At f8 the world stays connected.

The environment matters just as much as the subject. Light wraps differently. Highlights bloom softer. Imperfections survive the image.

That is where this look comes from.

Chasing the film look is not nostalgia. It is unfinished business.

Last year, I was finally able to get my hands on the Fuji X100vi

Since getting my hands on it, it’s pretty much come with me everywhere. It goes in my backpack. On my way to work. It’s in the car seat while I’m running an errand.

so here are a few of my favorite shots that I’ve taken with it. And in true Fuji style all shot with my own recipes all shot JPEG.

Do Epic Shit.

Warm fall light on a neighborhood
a little dodgy, a little worn,
the kind of place where honesty
shows up before beauty does.

They arrived in overalls and veils,
simple, unbothered,
carrying a wine bottle with a gold label
that read “do epic shit.”
It felt like the official drink for eloping,
if there ever was one.
He left his shirt on a pew
without a second thought.

No pomp.
No script.
Just two people choosing each other
without the weight of ceremony.

Then the jump.
Into the fountain.
Into the day.
Water rising,
laughter breaking across brick and tired streets.

Love stripped to its raw shape:
messy, fearless,
and perfect.

A fountain for two.

Grace

Barbell to chest
a heartbeat in motion.
Every lift, a story retold
in sweat and steel.

Not of weakness,
but of will reborn
the quiet courage
to rise again and again
when the body trembles,
when the world has burned,
and beauty still breathes
through the ash.

This is Grace
not the absence of pain,
but the presence of strength
that refuses to fade. by @artifacts.of.light

A Graffiti Bouquet

We wandered where the city hides
Behind the warehouse walls and steel,
Past pallets stacked and silence wide,
To where the world forgot to feel.

The bricks were loud with painted names,
Graffiti screamed in neon tones,
But you, my son, walked past the frames
Of art and rust and broken bones.

You saw what I had almost missed
Not murals bold or stories sprayed,
But wildflowers in the mist,
Where sunlight through the chain-link played.

With hands so gentle, eyes so wide,
You gathered colors, soft and bright,
A quiet joy you could not hide,
A child’s bouquet in morning light.

You did not ask who tagged the wall,
Or why the air still smelled of smoke—
You found a field where flowers call,
Where hope in quiet petals spoke.

And in that moment, I could see
The world the way you sometimes do:
Less concrete, more simplicity
Where grace grows wild, and beauty’s true.
