RUBY Projects is honored to present Marlon F. Hall’s “Unearthing Beauty From Brokenness: Four Meditations” — a four-week condensed residency and meditation practice centered on found-object sculpture, reflection, and communal presence.The project brings together reclaimed doors, architectural fragments, and personal artifacts gathered through Hall’s international fieldwork, assembled into sculptural forms that function as portals, altars, and thresholds for inward attention. The work is activated through weekly meditation, movement, and shared time in the gallery — inviting reflection on repair, dignity, and belonging.Meditations take place at 11:11am on Saturdays — January 10, 17, 24, and 31 at 1705 Ewing Street. Each session is one hour and held in direct relationship with the work on view. Vote in the poll for more information on each structured and work-specific meditation.The series concludes with a private communal dinner on January 29. (Inquire for information.)The gallery will be open for the duration of the project January 9 through January 31, Wednesday through Sunday, 11am–3pm, with the artist present.About the artist:Marlon F. Hall is a sculptor, filmmaker, and public artist whose interdisciplinary practice is rooted in social practice and anthropological listening. Working in the lineage of Zora Neale Hurston, Hall grounds his work in lived relationships — doing life with and listening deeply to the communities he creates with and for.A Fulbright Specialist, Tulsa Artist Fellow, and University of Wisconsin Interdisciplinary Artist, Hall has led major civic and cultural projects in Nairobi, Tulsa, and Houston, with collaborators including Bloomberg Philanthropies, the British Council, and the Kenya Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. His films and photographs appear on Google Arts & Culture, and his storytelling work includes projects for CBS and the Emmy Award–winning The Migrant Kitchen.“Unearthing Beauty From Brokenness: Four Meditations” is presented at LaRucheHTX in partnership with RUBY Projects and Art Is Bond, co-curated by Janice Bond. by @artisbondhtx
