normally don’t like dark spaces but I’ve been wanting to experience Undercurrents by @lozanohemmer

it was beyond calming & inspirational. what a beautiful way to use houston structures & waterways.

i love spaces that also remind me of some of my fave movies. i saw the colors of tron, matrix & queen of the damned. i can imagine music, performance & fashion in this space.

Maravilloso!

✨Arte del Barrio feat.✨

When in #austin

There are some exhibitions that do a great job at bringing the ancestral energy through the pieces. Y es lo que hizo esta instalación con un tema tan bonito de Rosas y Revelaciones: Homage to la Virgen de Guadalupe. Sixteen Mexican states represented through artisan artists in their craft.

The exhibitions sadly closed this past week but here are a few images.

@mexic_arte also featured photography by Jesse Herrera that documented Our Lady of Guadalupe in Austin.

And you can’t forget their permanent install of Rafael Navarro Barajas’ The Origins of Medicine, beautiful mural work.

Love the rich history & beautiful architecture #sanantonio has… I always discover something new.

Amazing work at @rubycity by Director Elyse Gonzales. Currently on exhibition are works by @danielriosrodriguez & @traceyrosestudio along with a beautifully curated exhibition called Sensing Meaning: Abstract Painting of multiple artists throughout the years dating back to the 40s, even including a Picasso. Not to forget to mention the stunning building because it’s not always that you get to see someone’s literal dream come to reality, if you know the story…

Another place worth seeing is @casapinktx by @oliviaortizstudio & cruzortizart

It felt like a creative, safe, lively space. Artisan works available for purchase. The Mexican Vanilla Latte on point 🤤 and lovely, intentional works of art from the lighting fixtures, to decor and a handmade chess set to enjoy a game with.

In the same location - The La Pinky Gallery was open and showing @jonthelion13 curated by @lesliemoodycastro

It was a nice discovery since I only found it initially for the coffee and said absolutely going there bc it was pink! I grew up in a pink house so I absolutely say yes to any pink place and this was a nice treat to see so much creativity in one spot! Didn’t get enough photos!

✨Arte del Barrio feat.✨

This summer has been exhibition galore! So many to see! This week we had the pleasure of checking out a few amazing ones:

Casa de Cultura: The Living Archive by @violetaalvarezphoto & @freshartsorg for the Space Taking Residency

Violeta is one of the best photographers hands down in Houston! Doing it big for women in the scene!

Also idk if you’re keeping up with the Artist Collective series but Part IV: Eternal Twins opened this past weekend featuring @cielito.no.tan.lindo @josephnoepineda @cosmicnv.art

This exhibition left me feeling nostalgic & emotional ngl but all good feelings. Love pieces and photography that evoke emotions, especially when tied to beautiful memories of childhood.

And lastly on our weekend tour was The Memory of Matter featuring @jatzirisart & @angelacorson_artist

The idea of seeing matter and decay through a different lense to give it a different meaning through this natural process is beautiful. I normally love old structures that show past life so it was neat to see rust paint and metal like colors be used in such an artistic way.

So many great shows!

A few photos from Houston Hosts The World exhibition now up at @studioeight08

What a beautiful space from the original architectural design and structure to the flow of the exhibition and interior design. Brilliant way to bring artists together to celebrate a global sport in a host city!

Had to visit some of our fave Htown artists @daniel_anguilu & @st.leal within that amazing line up of exhibitors

Don’t miss their work!
