I went along with a friend to the @ladderartspace gallery in Kew to see one of our local City of Whittlesea artists Jennie Culic's solo exhibition yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing her impressions from a trip to France, created in beautiful glass and acrylic pieces. We loved the stunning memories in flowers and scenes from visiting the wonderful home of Claude Monet in Giverney that were beautifully framed which enhanced the French feel Jennie has created in her art. If you would like to see better photos (I kept getting the glass reflection in mine) check out Jennie's page @hystericfairyfineart
Congratulations Jennie on your beautiful exhibition!

Back to some sketchbook watercolour and ink practice with yellow Gum blossoms. Loose watercolour on the first layer (slide 2) then a little more colour and white gel pen and fineliner pen to finish.
Inspiration from a photo image by @maxxle5 of these beautiful blossoms. Thanks again Melanie for allowing me to use your images as a reference!

Nature has been fierce here in Melbourne, Australia the last couple of days, but its beauty after 24 hours of rain is wonderful to see. I managed a walk in between the showers yesterday and here are some photos and video of the local wetlands waterways that are often inspiration for my art. It's great to see them when they are flowing with lots of water. The first reel with music features also the wonderful colours and textures of the trunks of gum trees, brighter and more defined after rain. Slide across for a video with the birds 🐦 and frogs 🐸 sounding their happy appreciation for the rain!
We also experienced at 2am this morning a 4.8 earthquake in Leongatha, Victoria. The other side of the State from me, but it felt like someone was shaking the house! 😱 I see sunshine is forecast for tomorrow! What a weather rollercoaster we have at the moment! Happy weekend to all!

Two more gift bags painted for the U3A market in October. Yesterday I had several hours of painting and made good progress with my artwork pieces for the market. The weekend will be focused on my youngest granddaughter Alex who is coming for a sleepover. Looking forward to chatting with a 10 year old and her pearls of wisdom, she is good for the soul!

I don't often post a work in progress, but this piece is taking so long, and at this point it has some interesting developments, so I thought I'd share it. It's a re-purposed 90cm wide x 30cm, canvas that has had a lot of different experiments attempted on its surface, but this multimedia collage will be the final attempt when it's finished. I'm using lots of techniques I've learned from art courses I've taken in the last year to create what I think is turning out to be a Wilderness scene. Lots of other work as well as art to do at the moment so it will be a bit longer before it's finished!

I'm having some fun painting on gift bags again for our U3A market day in October. I book a table where I have the opportunity to sell my greeting cards, small canvas paintings, gift bags, bookmarks and other paintings on watercolour paper I have done during the year. A lovely community event that showcases the variety of programs available to the over 50's generation to learn new things.
