One of our longest running co op members @artonoak is Michael Scrivens, who was introduced to pottery in high school in 1969. He’s a native of the Gorge, and studied ceramics in college at Mt Hood Community College and the University of Oregon. Find Michael’s work right at the entrance of our gallery.

Our co-op artist, Anita Reuther makes amazing mixed media 2D pieces using a very unique method. She alters the pages of old National Geographic magazines by applying Citra Solv to dissolve the ink, then utilizes the newly exposed colors and abstract textures to build her compositions. Shes cuts out each magazine page, layers, and arranges the pieces to create landscapes, abstractions and still life scenes. @a.reuther.art

Check out the work of @gentlehorsecreations at @artonoak

Roslyn’s art is made by carving linocuts, which she then prints by hand, one at a time.

She is inspired by Gorge flora 🪶 and fauna 🌻

@gentlehorsecreations also collaborates and prints her imagery onto fabric so that local bag maker, Raggamuffin can make bags that feature her art.

It’s all about process— find the unique ceramics by @cloud_cap_pottery fired in a soda kiln at co op gallery in Downtown Hood River, Oregon @artonoak

This is a specialized ceramic kiln used for atmospheric firing where sodium compounds are introduced to create unique, reactive surface glazes and color flashing. This creates a surface style where no two vessels are exactly alike!

Cheryl Quintana @chechaquoranchstudio carves each piece out of clay, she lets them dry for a month. They are then fired to a bisque, coated with interactive pigments, brushed back with a toothbrush, painted with colored glazes, and fired again, this time at a much hotter temperature. Cheryl says, “Prayers to the kiln gods, all works out.” In the meantime, you can find her charming and quirky animals, people, plants, and birds at Art On Oak, 210 Oak St., Hood River, OR.
