✨Illuminate✨ Director Announcement: Dick Scanlan wrote the musicals Thoroughly Modern Millie (book and lyrics, Tony Award for Best Musical), Everyday Rapture (Tony nomination for Best Book with Sherie Rene Scott), Renascence (book and co-director with Jack Cummings, Off-Broadway at the Transport Group) and The Unsinkable Molly Brown (new book and additional lyrics, Denver Center and St. Louis Muny). He served as script consultant to Berry Gordy on Motown the Musical, and creative consultant for Invisible Thread (formerly Witness Uganda) at 2econd Stage. His plays include Whorl Inside a Loop at 2econd Stage, co-written with Sherie Rene Scott and co-directed with Michael Mayer. Scanlan directed Jake Gyllenhaal and Ellen Greene in Little Shop of Horrors at Encores! Off-Center. His novel, Does Freddy Dance, was published by Alyson Publications. He has published numerous articles and essays in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and other publications.

✨Illuminate✨ Director Announcement: JONATHAN BERNSTEIN’S plays & musicals have been produced all over the country, including The Shape She Makes (in collaboration with actress/choreographer Susan Misner) and In This House (written with Sarah Schlesinger and Mike Reid). Currently writing and directing a play with dance entitled Here In The Bright Colorado Sun under the auspices of The Jerome Robbins Foundation. A short play of his — At The Water’s Edge, Wet — was recently syndicated nationally on the radio series Playing On Air. Additionally, two separate narrative podcasts entitled Ballad Of An Outlaw and Upstream are in development. Directing credits include work at the American Repertory Theater, Atlantic Theater Company, The Signature Theater, Williamstown Theater Festival, New York Stage & Film, Joe’s Pub, Ensemble Studio Theater, Barrington Stage Company, Naked Angels, Symphony Space, and many others. Mr. Bernstein has worked in various capacities at New York’s City Center, Manhattan Theatre Club, Second Stage Theatre, Roundabout Theatre, Irish Repertory Theatre and 52nd St. Project, where he writes, directs and teaches. Broadway/London supervising director credits include Private Lives, The Iceman Cometh, Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? and the musical Chicago, in charge of overseeing both the 1996 Broadway revival, and the many national & international companies it spawned. In all, he has been the supervising director of fourteen New York productions, eight of which have been on Broadway.

✨Illuminate✨ Presenter Announcement: Bess Wohl is a playwright and filmmaker. Her plays have been produced on and off Broadway, regionally, and internationally and her feature film debut, BABY RUBY, starring Noémie Merlant and Kit Harington, premiered at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival and was released by Magnolia Pictures. She also wrote for the Apple TV+ series, “Extrapolations,” created by Scott Z. Burns. Recently, her play LIBERATION (Outer Critics Circle Winner, Drama Desk, Drama League and Lucille Lortel noms.) had an extended run at Roundabout Theater Company and she made her West End debut with a sold out run of BARCELONA starring Lily Collins. Other plays include GRAND HORIZONS (Tony Nominations for Best Play & Best Featured Actress, Outer Critics Circle Honor, Drama League Award nom); MAKE BELIEVE (NYTimes Critic Pick, Best of 2019, Outer Critics Circle Honor); CAMP SIEGFRIED; CONTINUITY; and SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS (John Gassner Outer Critics Circle Award, top ten lists in The New York Times, The New York Post, The Guardian). Wohl is an associate artist with The Civilians, an alumna of Ars Nova’s Play Group, and the recipient of new play commissions from Manhattan Theatre Club, Lincoln Center and Williamstown Theatre Festival.

✨Illuminate✨ Presenter Announcement: Mary-Mitchell Campbell has had an extensive career as a musician and humanitarian. In 2006 she founded Arts Ignite with some of her Juilliard students, and she recently transitioned as the Executive Director to the position of President. She has traveled the world using arts education as a way to inspire young people to pursue higher education. She has been the Music Supervisor/Music Director for eleven Broadway shows and conducts orchestras in concerts around the country. She is passionate about the power of arts education to transform the lives of young people. Mary-Mitchell received the 2026 Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award for her extensive advocacy and humanitarian work through the arts.

✨Illuminate✨ Presenter Announcement: Joaquina Kalukango received the both a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award in 2022 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her extraordinary performance as Nelly O’Brien in Paradise Square in 2022. In 2020, Kalukango received a Tony nomination for her performance in the critically acclaimed Broadway production, Slave Play. Her performance in Slave Play earned her an Outer Critics Circle Award® for Best Actress, and Broadway.com listed her as one of the top five performers of the year. She will next be seen in a recurring role in Taylor Sheridan’s series, Bass Reeves. Kalukango is a 2021 SAG Award nominee for Cast in a Motion Picture for her role as Betty X opposite Kingsley Ben-Adir in Regina King’s directorial debut, One Night in Miami. Additionally, she reccured in the HBO series, “Lovecraft County.” Other TV credits include Ava DuVernay’s Netflix series, When They See Us, and, Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia, directed by Kenny Leon. Kalukango’s additional Broadway credits include: Into the Woods, The Color Purple, Holler If Ya Hear Me, and Godspell.

✨Illuminate✨ Performer Announcement: JESSICA VOSK is a celebrated singer and actress known for electrifying performances on musical theater and concert stages. Best known for starring as Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway and tour, she has also appeared in Fiddler on the Roof, Finding Neverland, The Bridges of Madison County, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Her credits include Anita in San Francisco Symphony’s GRAMMY-nominated West Side Story, Aunt Val in Becoming Nancy, and Jersey in Hell’s Kitchen.
