Developing agency in young people through the arts! 🎭🎨🎶
Formerly ASTEP

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A few times a year I get to travel to Richmond, VA to work with the cool, creative kids at Patrick Henry School of Arts and Science, through the amazing non-profit, @artsigniteorg
We always write an original song together, and I’m particularly proud of the song we wrote this fall. The theme of our camp this time was “There’s More To Me” and the kids really ran with it!

Arts Ignite is a non-profit that sends professional artists into public schools and communities to inspire children and build critical life skills. If you’d like to support the work they do and the artists they employ (like me!), you can donate at the link in my bio!

Such an honor celebrating 20 years of @artsigniteorg <3 I would not be the gal I am today without arts education programs. My favorite quote of the night, “access to the arts is a human right” !!!! ⭐️🧑‍🩰🧑‍🩰 The most beautiful evening filled with so much love !!

Thank you, @iamtnyc for gifting us with @tamar.greene. Tamar, thank you for this incredible opportunity and your radiant light. @marymitchellc it’s been an honor working with you. Thank you for uplifting future artists and lighting the way. What a powerful gift you’ve got ✨✨👼🏼👼🏼

“We will absolutely return for another WP show and I feel really comfortable leaving [our child] with the childcare team. Thank you for offering this important service for us NYC moms with little to no options for reliable childcare during events.”

🌞 Our Summer Bridge Program was a success! 🎉

Last week, our incoming 6th and 9th graders had the chance to build connections through community-building activities, get moving during dance workshops with Arts Ignite, explore our school with a fun scavenger hunt, and wrap up the week with a trip to Dave & Buster’s! 🎮✨

We loved getting to know our new students and reconnecting with those who are returning!

We’re so excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to see everyone on Thursday, September 10th for our first day of school!

🌟 A remarkable milestone in Islamabad!

CPI's Storytelling Program has now reached more than 1,000 children across all eight Pehli Kiran Schools—including 540 girls and 460 boys.

@pehlikiranschools provides local education for homeless and highly vulnerable children in some of Islamabad’s poorest communities.

Through #storytelling, these children are doing far more than listening. They are imagining new endings, drawing characters, helping one another write—and creating their own books.

They proudly presented their work from the Author’s Chair, wearing an Author Crown and recognizing something powerful:

📚 They can be storytellers.
✍️ They can be authors.
🌱 Their ideas and voices matter.

#Parents shared that children returned home excited to talk about the books they had written and the characters they had created. This is what confidence, creativity and educational opportunity look like.

We are incredibly proud of our storytelling partnership with Pehli Kiran Schools. ❤️

When #storytelling becomes a conversation 📚✨
[SWIPE LEFT < <] At our partner @pehlikiranschools in Islamabad, storytelling is helping some of the most vulnerable children in their care, including children experiencing #homelessness, develop language, critical thinking, creativity and confidence.

In the CPI storytelling method, children do more than listen:
🎯 They question, predict, interpret, draw and connect stories to their own lives.
🎯 For children who may not yet have the words to express themselves, drawing can become another language.

These beautiful handmade books show that meaningful learning does not require expensive materials, only imagination, thoughtful engagement and space for every child’s voice.

A story is not the end of the experience. It is the beginning of a conversation.

Congratulations to the Pehli Kiran Schools team!

June brought a delightful surprise🏆🧑🏻‍🏫✍️ I discovered I won an award! I received the 2025 Veridian Community Engagement Fellowship for a creative writing curriculum I developed. This is part of a fantastic ongoing partnership with @artsigniteorg , University of Northern Iowa @gallagherbluedorn and Waterloo Community School District.

✨The program is designed to engage students of all skill levels in the writing process, including those that can find it the hardest. English Language Learners, students with learning differences, and reluctant writers get to have fun tapping their creativity while acquiring essential academic and SEL skills.

✨And each spring I get to lead residencies at Waterloo schools (shout out @beckerelementary and @kingsleywaterloo !). I also had the privilege of training Waterloo’s English Language Development teachers on the curriculum.

The grant from this award helped make that possible 🙏📝✨

✨I’m honored to be named alongside a team of difference-making educators & administrators: Abby Norgren, Simona Boroianu and Jennifer Onuigbo. Together with Arts Ignite and UNI’s @kellimccarthy50 , we’ve been able to deliver arts integration-driven writing instruction to hundreds of kids during the last two school years.

✨The grant was awarded during a moment of administrative transition, and we just learned about it. I was back in Iowa for Arts Ignite’s annual summer program, so I swung by UNI to meet the trophy in person.

Tonys to Toothache: The Marissa Rosen Story. It’s called balance people. I may have looked like a chipmunk in a dress, but there was nothing that was going to keep me away from this year‘s Tony Awards. The last time I was at Radio city watching the Tonys, baby Marissa and her best friend Alexis were sitting in the nosebleed seats watching The Rocky horror Show perform. Bc GOD WE WERE BABY GROUPIES, and proud of it! Cut to this year… Slightly taller (prob not) Marissa is sitting watching The Rocky Horror Show perform on the Tonys yet again. But this time I’m an adult. This time I am a part of this beautiful Broadway community and I’m watching my friends and colleagues perform, be nominated and win monumental awards. What an incredible full circle moment. The best part is that I got to share it with my mentor, my friend… my life fairy @marymitchellc who freaking won the Isabelle Stevenson special Tony for her humanitarianism & advocacy in the arts, her work with @artsigniteorg and for basically being the most incredible human being that knows everyone and has worked with every single person in that room. AND SHE LOOKED GAWJUS. (She’s gonna kill me). There is NO ONE more deserving. My face was throbbing, my feet hurt, my eyes were puffy from crying.. but there was no way I was gonna miss this night… A room filled with absolute joy! Where no matter who you are in or out of this business… We all just got to be nerdy theater fans for the night. Anyway. Here are some photos and I love Theater.
