THAT'S A 54 BELOW DEBUT!!

Just one more unexpected place that this silly instrument has taken me to, it keeps surprising me 🎻 Playing these songs at this iconic venue was pretty much almost worth the grueling hours of transcribing them one by one - i've learned that it's not easy to cover all instrumental parts in Stephen Schwartz with just one violin, but we did our best, gang. Unfortunately I now have insane one-sided beef with that guy for writing some of the most challenging sections of music I've had to play in years.

Anyways, I have to start by sharing my gratitude with Leah and JB, thank you so much for welcoming me with open arms and putting your full trust in me. Also thank you for this insane whirlwind of a week and letting me basically live in your place. Cindy, it has been so fun (although exhausting) cracking these songs with you, this was such a fun musical reunion to have. And to the whole cast; you guys are all fucking incredible, thank you for rolling with the punches, I hope I was able to ornament the glorious work you were already presenting.

Shoutout to Ley and Ivy for the moral support, you guys are my rock. Shoutout 54 Below (duh) for having us in the first place. Also ofc shout-out to Gianna for the much needed photo in front of the iconic step-and-repeat. taken in 54 Below by @arty_zara

About a month ago, I asked Nix if they'd like to collaborate on a For the Record cover as Rumi and Mira (but their gimme that candyfloss counterparts). So yeah, this has been a long time coming, hope y'all enjoy :)

I have been remembering the poem "Kız Çocuğu" by Nazım Hikmet, which I learned when I was in middle school I believe. I've been thinking of how history repeats itself, how humanity keeps suffering through wars over and over again, and how the people affected are the innocent - the children, who are made to suffer the consequences of the political actions of our "world leaders". This poem was written after World War II to honor the memory of Sadako Sasaki and the countless other children who lost their lives, and we must continue to honor the lives lost to war, whether it be Sadako, Hind Rajab, or the countless others whose names can barely fit yards of paper. Free Palestine and all the illegally occupied people and nations of the world. #freepalestine #october7 #nazımhikmet #poetry #artispolitical by @arty_zara
