How Indian folk Warli art looks with textures.

Sharing an old artwork today that holds a special place in my journey.

Warli art is traditionally created on a flat surface, but I love experimenting with textures and earthy layers to give the artwork a more tactile, raw and rustic feel.

For this piece, I built the textured base first and then added the Warli figures and details by hand. The combination of the terracotta tones, raised textures and simple white Warli figures is what gives this artwork its earthy character.

This piece was sold quite some time ago, but I still love looking back at the work that helped shape my signature style. ❤️

Some artworks may be old, but the feeling they carry never really gets old.

This is one of my earlier Warli artworks — a peacock spreading its feathers and dancing with pure joy.

I love revisiting old pieces like this and seeing how my style has evolved over time. This one also carries my love for bringing simple moments from nature into Warli art.

Sometimes the smallest artworks bring the biggest joy.

For me, creating isn’t always about making something big or elaborate. Sometimes it’s simply about sitting down, picking up the tools and letting an idea take shape.

Warli art is traditionally known for its beautiful, simple and flat forms.

I’ve always loved that simplicity, but I also wanted to bring another dimension to my work — texture.

Layer by layer, texture becomes the base, and then the Warli story comes alive on top of it. This textured surface has slowly become a signature part of my work. 🤍

And this one is currently a work in progress…
I’m preparing it for my upcoming exhibition in Bangalore, in collaboration with @duarte.haus

There’s still a lot more to come before the final reveal. ✨
