Cue the confetti: We've just been named America’s Best Management Consulting Firms by @forbes, building on our recognition as America’s Top Management Consulting Firms by @BusinessInsider earlier this year.

At Arup, management consulting isn’t a standalone practice. It’s woven into a broader ecosystem of designers, engineers, planners, and strategists shaping more resilient, human‑centered built environments. Our advisory work often sets the conditions for impact—reducing delivery risk, accelerating adoption, and enabling people‑first transformation that lasts.

The rigor behind our thinking matches the ambition of the environments we help create. We’re proud to see this work recognized, and grateful for the trust of our clients and collaborators across the industry.

From arts and culture institutions like The Broad to major transit centers like the LAX Metro Transit Center, we’ve contributed to some of Los Angeles’ most significant places over the last 40 years.

To celebrate our anniversary, we welcomed our design partners to @datalandmuseum to mark four decades of ingenuity and explore the next era of design in LA and Southern California.

Our roots in #LosAngeles stretch back to 1986 when we established our regional presence, one year after opening our first office in the Americas in San Francisco.

Since that time, we have grown into a multidisciplinary team working across transportation, infrastructure, property, healthcare, arts and culture, science and technology, and climate resilience.

Today, Los Angeles is home to more than 280 Arup professionals, combining local insight with expertise from across our global network.

Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated such a historic night with us, cheers to 40 years!

Next time you’re walking down the street in New York City, look up because you may soon be crossing under one of @time’s Best Inventions for 2026!

We’re thrilled to have our designs for new sidewalk sheds recognized as one of the most innovative products transforming the world.

We helped reimagine the city’s iconic sidewalk sheds as part of an initiative led by @nyc_dob to improve the pedestrian experience.

Developed with @kne_studio_architecture, @reddymadedesign, and @corescaffold, the modular designs show how temporary infrastructure can do more than protect people and make streets feel brighter, safer, and more welcoming.

Watch as our Project Director Seth Wolfe and Project Manager Chris Rush discuss the design behind the sheds.

Benaroya Hall has reopened its doors with an enhanced public experience.

As part of the transformation of the venue’s public and gathering spaces, we led the acoustics and audiovisual design in close collaboration with Mithun, Seneca Group, and Sellen Construction.

Since opening in 1998, Benaroya Hall has been the home of the @seattlesymphony and a cornerstone of Seattle’s civic and cultural life.

This renovation helps ensure it remains a welcoming, inclusive, and future-ready space for generations to come.

Digital technologies are transforming how communities can prepare for and respond to climate challenges.

In Florida’s Indian River Lagoon, one of the most biologically rich estuaries in North America, we have collaborated with @nature_org to launch the Smart Watershed Network Management project: a pilot program that's integrating AI with hydrological science and physical technologies to enhance stormwater systems in urban areas and address pollution and contamination from stormwater.

As part of the project, we are leading the development of the project’s digital systems, which includes hydrological modeling, data analytics, and applications of AI and machine learning.

This initiative demonstrates the innovative technologies transforming wider society can deliver measurable benefits for #water quality, ecosystem health, and the resilience of surrounding communities, while also creating a scalable framework for smarter watershed management in the future.

A new travel experience is taking shape at Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

Vertical construction is now underway on the new Concourse D with the groundbreaking of the new Concourse E scheduled to take place later this year.

Part of #ORDNext, the Chicago Department of Aviation’s $8.8 billion transformation of the airport, Concourse D will be the first new building under the program and the largest concourse area expansion and revitalization in the 70+ year history of the airport.

Working with @skidmoreowingsmerrill, @r_barc Architects, and @jgma_insta Architects, we are a key partner on the design team, serving as the lead mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer and information technology services engineer.

Our team is also contributing apron and back-of-house lighting, security, and acoustics consulting in addition to collaborating with SOM’s structural engineering team to achieve the design of the concourse's tree-like structural system, which is inspired by the nearby apple orchard that gave the airport its name.

Scheduled for completion in late 2028, Concourse D will advance Chicago’s international stature and economic vitality for generations to come.

There are over 7,000 sheds covering more than 1.7 million linear feet of sidewalk in New York City.

This month, the @nyc_dob proposed new rules that would allow new sidewalk shed designs to be used across the city, marking a major milestone toward a reimagined pedestrian experience.

In collaboration with @kne_studio_architecture , @reddymadedesign and @corescaffold, we developed three of the six selected concepts: the Air Shed, the Flex Shed and the Rigid Shed.

The new designs address the challenges posed by traditional sidewalk sheds, which often create dark, obstructive corridors. Designed with flexibility, constructability, and aesthetics in mind, these concepts offer adaptable solutions for various building types and urban environments.

A monument. A gathering place. A powerful symbol of remembrance, resilience, and hope.

Thunderhead, the new 2SLGBTQI+ National Monument in Ottawa, is a landmark project that commemorates the historic injustices faced by 2SLGBTQI+ communities in Canada while serving as a space for reflection and community connection.

At its heart, the monument is a striking thunderhead-shaped structure that symbolizes activism, change, and renewal. Clad with reflective glass mosaics inspired by a disco ball, its immersive interior transforms through light and movement.

At night, carefully integrated luminaires bring the Thunderhead to life through a series of programmable lighting scenes, ranging from a subtle nighttime glow to vibrant Pride-inspired colour displays and commemorative sequences.

Our lighting design and electrical engineering team helped transform the monument into a living expression of remembrance and pride that evolves throughout the day, seasons, and significant dates recognized by the community.

Alongside a multidisciplinary team of community representatives, artists and designers led by @publiccityarch, we're proud to support a project that demonstrates how thoughtful design can tell stories, honour lived experiences, and create spaces that bring people together.
