The Arête Pendant Circle holds twelve points of light behind a single shade, woven in Spain and sewn by hand in Copenhagen onto a steel frame.

When switched on, the form softens into one warm plane.

At ⌀90 cm, we scaled the circular Arête for dining tables, spacious rooms, and double-height ceilings that benefit from extra volume.

De La Espada at Ómós

Ómós guesthouse and restaurant, led by chef Cúán Greene, offers a thoughtful, design-led hospitality experience centring local Irish history, identity, and resources combined with an international perspective. Handcraft and material excellence are hallmarks of the project, with contributions from both local and international craftspeople.

De La Espada is proud to have contributed our craft expertise through standard De La Espada products and bespoke, site-specific furniture pieces designed by interior architects Asca Studio and Relief Gallery. We worked closely with the interior architects to bring their vision to life, crafting custom tables, chairs, daybeds, sofas, room dividers, and bedside tables that are present throughout the project.

Our earliest beginnings over 30 years ago were in bespoke cabinetmaking for high-end residential projects. In recent years, alongside the evolution of our furniture range, we have quietly returned to our roots, collaborating closely with designers, architects, and hospitality visionaries to produce custom furniture and interior solutions for projects that align with our values. It is another expression of our creative world, and another way we can bring the tactile, emotive power of craft to daily life.

De La Espada at Ómós

Ómós, a new guesthouse and restaurant, opens in Ireland as a rich tribute to its landscape, local culture, and a contemporary expression of vernacular design.

De La Espada collaborated with Asca Studio and Relief Gallery, the project’s interior architects, contributing our craft expertise to a series of collections and bespoke designs for Ómós under the vision of founder Cúán Greene.

Ómós is a Gaelic word meaning homage, duty, and respect. A place built on a deep connection to the land and people around it, while honouring craft to the deepest degree.

It’s been a pleasure to partner on a project so rich in meaning and materiality.

16 rooms. 40 seats. Three years in the making.

@___omos Guesthouse and Restaurant recently opened in Abbeyleix, Ireland. Bringing together Irish craft, Scandinavian design influences and a deep connection to the surrounding landscape.

Led by chef @cuangreene the project was developed with interior architecture by Asca Studio and Relief Gallery. Natural materials, local craftsmanship and carefully considered details run throughout the guesthouse and restaurant.

Dauby hardware forms part of that material palette, used throughout the interiors and custom joinery.

The ensuites at @__omos are each unique, born from the palettes and circumstances each room presented, being newly established in an old building. Several principles remain at play that were themes throughout the overall interior design from the plaster height @studioloho to the tile pattern @newterracotta. A nod to the building’s Victorian history, skirting, trim, and classical fixtures from @tonicopenhagen were chosen for their intensely handmade quality that is, of course, more rich in person.

Asca Studio designed two versions of the vanities using local Kilkenny limestone as the countertops.
The first is a stained ash base with drawers and chamfered details that are reflected throughout much of the timber in the project, detailed with cast white bronze hardware. The second is a play on the traditional framed vanity, detailed instead with hexagonal legs in brushed stainless steel, fixed to the wall with diamond shaped placards.

Each color story becomes more saturated with the volume of tiles, and in 6 of the suites, tubs crafted in clay by studio loho are positioned for visual and physical relaxation.

A cobalt blue tub sits within a window dormer looking out to the gardens

A courtyard suite clad in lemon colored tiles and a vanity designed by @asca.studio and produced by @rtmetalcraft and @mckeonstone2

One of the largest garden facing ensuites showcases a calming palette of pinks, creams, yellows, and small bits of blue. The organic clay tub from @studioloho overlooks the impressive architecture of the restaurant just across the way.

Where possible, most showers were enclosed as separate rooms. The twist on the classical style is shown here through the use of organically shaped tiles, formally trimmed, while muted plaster walls run up through the ceiling.

A living pallet inspired by the external landscape takes precedence in one of our favorite ensuites we crafted on the second floor. Kilkenny limestone and ash wood vanity is designed by @asca.studio and produced by @holmris_b8 @mckeonstone2

The lounge at the @___omos Guesthouse is located directly off the entrance and is designed as a multifunctional space that responds to both guest use and the operational requirements of the house. A wraparound sofa is integrated into the window cove, creating a generous seating area for larger groups.

Flanking the sofa are two bespoke vitrines incorporated into the built-in joinery, housing glassware for service and a compact wet bar.

The arrangement allows the room to shift between different uses throughout the day, while maintaining a clear architectural language. The fireplace, record player and honesty bar introduce a more informal domestic quality, encouraging guests to occupy the space at their own pace.

The vitrines form an important part of the wider interior strategy. Rather than treating service elements as separate pieces of furniture, they are integrated into the architecture of the room. Their detailing and proportions continue the project’s reinterpretation of vernacular forms and local symbology, creating a consistent language across the guesthouse.

In this way, the functional requirements of hospitality become embedded within the architecture itself, contributing to a layered material palette that brings richness, tactility and a sense of joy to the room.

A low wall divider separates the fireplace setting from the larger wraparound sofa area. Rather than fully separating the two zones, the divider establishes a sense of intimacy while maintaining visual and social continuity across the lounge. A touch of the rich layering of materiality is in focus with the Irish wool upholstery from Mourne, papered wall divider, and cast aluminum and bronze table. All pieces designed by Asca Studio and produced by @delaespada

The honesty bar, designed by Asca Studio, is a freestanding cabinet with an integrated fridge drawer and hinged flanks that open to welcome guests and provide access to a curated selection of beverages.

The piece is designed to support both a high level of service from staff and a sense o by @asca.studio

Two brass wall Plié lights peak out of a corner at the @___omos Guesthouse.

The Plié Collection is a series of lighting crafted from a thin sheet of brass, each shade formed into an irregular oval silhouette. Available as a wall light, table lamp, floor lamp, and pendant, the design’s lithe form makes it ideal for small and large spaces alike.

Produced in Sweden by @konsthantverktyringe and available for purchase in either uncoated raw brass or oxidised brass via studio@ascastudio.com

The main dining room at @__omos is conceived as a stage for the warmth and generosity of Irish hospitality. Designed to complement chef @cuangreene’s produce-led, modern Irish cooking, the interior draws its material language directly from the surrounding landscape.

The space is anchored by dining tables designed by Asca Studio and crafted in Irish oak by @nonviolentcutlery. Tumbled Kilkenny limestone extends across the floors, its cool, mineral character set against the warmth of hay-infused plaster, Douglas fir, and Søuld eelgrass.

Each table is positioned to offer a distinct relationship with its surroundings, framing views towards the land, lake, fireplace, or open service kitchen. Openings throughout the room act as thresholds between interior and exterior, establishing a continual visual and spatial connection to the landscape beyond.
