There is a lot of football happening this weekend. I love it! For me, it’s not just entertainment; it’s very much a part of why I am the way that I am and is a big part of the relationships I love and cherish. The senseless game of football tricked me into a way of excellence. At the beginning, people were like, “Hey Andy, run as fast as you can into that guy and make him fly as far as possible before he lands on the ground.” Me: “Boo yah!!!!!!” That was better than Christmas! In fact, that still sounds like a lot of fun today. But football quickly evolved into much more than that. I worked really hard at it, and so did the guys around me. I learned to count on them and to be somebody that they could count on. We poured our hearts and souls into our team over many years, and we did it for each other. That experience developed a bond with those guys that is still very strong today and will last forever. I had the best coaches ever. Not just football coaches, but also strength coaches, volleyball coaches, baseball coaches, and basketball coaches. I’m so grateful for their time, effort, and proficiency in helping me succeed and for my relationships with them. That is why I coach today, and I love the relationships that I continue to develop as a result. In addition to valuable relationships, football has taught me a myriad of skills and has developed in me healthy habits that will be with me forever. I #givethanks for football. by @aselcho

I #givethanks for freedom. We are made to be free and are blessed to enjoy so much freedom right now in the United States. That freedom allows us to stretch, and to grow, and to experience, and to learn so much in life. I realize that freedom isn’t free. It’s bought with blood and sacrifice. To all those who have sacrificed in some way… and also to all those who still put your lives on the line for the freedom that I enjoy, I thank you. Some of those women and men are famous for standing brave in the face of danger… and rightfully so. Many many others will never be know yet are equally important. What am I to do with all of this freedom? Here are some ideas I got from Dan Crenshaw, someone who nearly gave all for the cause of freedom and who still serves today.
I have a duty to accomplish something every day.
I have a duty to live up to my best self—the person I want to be.
I have a duty to embrace shame and learn from it.
I have a duty to be polite, thoughtful, patient.
I have a duty to overcome my hardships and not wallow in self-pity.
I have a duty to contribute—even if my contribution is small.
I have a duty to be on time.
I have a duty to be prepared.
I have a duty to do my job—even if my job sucks.
I have a duty to stay healthy—both for myself and so that I do not become a burden on others.
I have a duty to be part of the solution; not the problem.
I have a duty to try hard not to offend others and try harder not to be offended.
I have a duty to use my freedom for the betterment of others. by @aselcho

I #givethanks for my 4 favorite people in the world. Steph teaches me love unconditionally and makes me feel at home. Syd brings the party and leaves fear behind. Jess creates awesomeness and always goes "all in." Kayman brings the brilliance and dares to be different. My love for each one of them is beyond measure.
