ASF ATHLETE RECAP: Gabe Brown

Gabe came to me in June with very sub par technique on all 3 lifts especially on the squat and deadlift. Wasn’t hitting depth on squat and couldn’t hold onto the bar. He wasn’t able to put everything that he was capable onto the platform and our first meet together went from a 570kg total to a 640kg total. Gabe is a very motivated and dialed in athlete in terms of recovery maxing and understanding how to put technique critiques into action. Overall couldn’t ask of anything more as a coach.

Squat:
1st video-> 240(end of June)
This squat was about 3-4 inches shy of depth and barely was able to move with the weight on his back

2nd video-> 250(beginning of December)
Was able to successfully hit depth although only 10kg more than the previous video. He was able to hit the standard required of him also 10kg more than his comp pr from 5 weeks prior.

Bench:
1st video-> our initial block working together we fixed up so much of his tech. Butt was initially coming off the bench. Heavy sinking causing misgrooves. But within the first month of working together we were able to fix that and hit a very easy 2.5kg pr.

2nd video-> hitting 150kg/330lbs at the same Rpe if not easier then then the video before is absolutely insane for most people. Gabe is capable of so much more and will soon be able to do so.

Deadlift:
1st video-> we knew going into the first block together that he was going to have to switch a lot up when it came to the deadlift. He had the strength to accomplish more than he was able to show because of grip issues although didn’t move horrible he still wasn’t able to successfully complete the 250kg/551lbs deadlift

2nd video-> Gabe as of this week has hit 260kg/573lbs after finally hitting 250kg in comp during him meet in November. Adding 10kg to the pull in 5 weeks is crazy. Moving around some stuff during his set up and execution as well as switching to mixed grip helped him successfully progress the lift at a very rapid pace.

MEET RECAP
6/9 | 667.5kg/1471lbs

Squats: 3/3 | 10kg/22lbs ATPR (15kg/33lbs meet PR)
217.5kg/480lbs ⚪️⚪️⚪️
235kg/518lbs⚪️⚪️⚪️
250kg/551⚪️⚪️⚪️

Squats showed the strongest they have ever been.

Bench: 1/3 | 2.5kg/5.5lbs meet pr
162.5kg/358lbs ⚪️⚪️⚪️
170kg/374lbs 💔💔💔
170kg/374lbs 💔💔💔

Bench pacing on the day wasn’t great. Should’ve opened with 5kg less

Deadlift: 2/3 | 5kg/11lbs ATPR (15kg/33lbs meet PR)
240kg/529lbs ⚪️⚪️⚪️
255kg/562lbs ⚪️⚪️⚪️
262.5kg/578lbs 💔💔💔

Another pacing issue, just didn’t need to open so heavy. I had the strength for 262.5kg but just couldn’t show it because of the heavier load prior.

Not a bad meet, definitely my best performance numbers wise but that “6/9” is kinda ugly to me. I Need to execute better. But considering I prepped myself the last 8 weeks I’ll take what I was able to get. by @asfperformanceeee
