From dreaming about the big screen in Durban to sitting in a theatre with my family watching one of the films I helped bring to life what a full-circle moment. 🎬✨Being part of Sugar Cane Boy movie as one of the leads has been an incredible journey, but sharing this premiere with the people who believed in me long before the cameras, red carpets, and Hollywood dreams means everything.Life has taken me across the world and introduced me to a new chapter, but coming home reminded me exactly where it all began. A year ago my life changed as I got a once in a lifetime opportunity to get into Hollywood for my acting. This has always been my life’s mission and ultimate goal! HOLLYWOOD!!! LOS ANGELES!!! THE CITY OF ANGELS!!! 🇺🇸🎥DECISIONS.. DECISIONS.. DECISIONS.. At the time it was a dream come true however I had a lot of stuff to tie up in South Africa. Do I leave my life behind and start over in a new city with no friends or family or live life with a regret of never being in Hollywood? After a long and tough thought process & brain storming I opted to take this opportunity as I would have lived with way too many regrets if I didn’t. I had to prepare myself to leave South Africa and go to “THE ANGELS” which translates to “Los Angeles”!There were many ups and downs in my journey to get there but in the end it had all been worth it. I had to resign from my corporate job at FNB, put my property on rent, sold my dream car and left my friends and family to pursue this new quest! I left South Africa on the 14th of October and took a 29 hour flight to The City Of Angels. FYI - I have never been to America before, now this is my new home! REMEMBER THE NAME ASHISH MISRA!!! I will be joining the greats in the industry @charlizeafrica @kimengelbrecht trevornoah @tyla ⭐️My road to the Oscar’s begins today! 🎬🏆🎥I am hoping to make my friends & family proud and represent South Africa on the highest stage possible. Let this be an inspirational story to all. Pursuing your dreams is one of the most courageous things you can do. The path may not always be easy, but every step you take brings you closer to becoming the person you were meant to be. Trust your instincts, embrace challenges as opportunities to grow, and never let fear or doubt overshadow your passion. Remember, the journey toward your dreams is as important as the destination—stay committed, and you’ll find the strength within you to make them a reality. It’s hard to put into words what this moment means.Driving through Durban and seeing my face on movie posters across the city… from Reservoir Hills, where I grew up, to other corners of the place I’ve always called home, is something I once only imagined.As a kid from Reservoir Hills, I’d look at movie posters and dream. I never imagined that one day, people would be driving past and seeing me on one of them.This isn’t a reminder of how far I’ve come it’s a reminder of where I come from.No matter where this journey takes me, I never want success to be louder than my gratitude. The streets that raised me, the people who believed in me, and the community that shaped me will always be a part of every milestone I achieve.If you’re chasing a dream, let this be your reminder: your beginnings do not determine your destination. You don’t need permission to dream bigger than your circumstances. Stay patient when nobody notices you. Stay disciplined when nobody applauds you. There are moments in life that you dream about… and then there are moments that leave you completely speechless.Last weekend, Sugar Cane Boy officially opened in cinemas across South Africa, and I had the privilege of meeting so many of you at our fan events. Every handshake, every photo, every conversation, and every autograph reminded me just how special this journey has been.But one moment will stay with me forever.A young boy walked up to me, and asked if I could sign his autograph poster with my face on it. For a second, time stood still, I wasn’t just looking at a fan I was looking at the little boy I used to be. The kid who dreamed of one day being on the big screen. The kid who believed, even when the dream felt impossibly far away.Life has a beautiful way of coming full circle. Years ago, I would have been the one asking for the autograph. This weekend, I was the one signing it. If that little boy walked away believing that his own dreams are possible because of a few words, a photo, or a signature, then that means more to me than I could ever put into words.It reminded me that sometimes your greatest achievement isn’t the role you land it’s becoming proof for someone else that dreams really can come true. Never underestimate the power of chasing your dreams. There are moments in life that make you stop, reflect, and realize just how far you’ve come.Honoured and humbled to be featured in The Post, one of South Africa’s biggest newspapers, ahead of my movie release this July. Seeing my story in print is a reminder that dreams really do come true when you combine faith, hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance.A few years ago, I was working in a completely different career. From South Africa to Hollywood… this moment means more than it probably looks like.I’ll never forget where this started. A kid with a dream that didn’t make sense to most people. No roadmap, no connections, no guarantees… just belief. Just a feeling that somehow, some way, I was meant for something bigger.I remember what it felt like to watch all of this from a distance, wondering how people even got into those rooms. And now, I’m here, hosting during Oscar weekend, standing in spaces I once only imagined.For a second, I just took it all in… because this used to feel impossible.But manifestation is real.
