So fun to contribute the strings for this, and to hear my cello on this track with Christina Aguilera and Latto is 😍🤯
Life's twists and turns can be pretty unexpected, this is one of those funny moments of going, how did that happen?! 😂
For all the complexities and instabilities of being a musician, I feel so lucky to be spending this life dedicated to music 🎶❤️🎻

Thank you @spotify @spotifyuk for adding Tatewari to this lush playlist. I'm reeeeeeallllly surprised by this, but so happy. I'm taking it gratefully as a reminder to keep going with this songwriting thing, as I very nearly didn't release this track at all! I love all the creative bits of making recordings, but find the process of releasing music quite challenging, as it is often something you've worked really hard on, and it can feel like such an anticlimax to put it out into the world. It helps a lot to know that it's being heard. Thank you so much for listening 💖

Celebrating the release of two brilliant albums! Mâtîrja by Ayla Schafer and Our Land documentary soundtrack by Dan Inzani are both out in the world today ❤️
So much inspiration, work, love, time and dedication is in these tracks.
I've had to take time off music work due to illness, and these two albums were the last projects I was part of. Seeing them out today is reminding me of the total joy of collaborating with other musicians, I can't wait to get back to that, but for now enjoying listening! 🌟

Farewell 2025

Year of fun, muddles, health troubles and kitten cuddles. Not sorry to see the back of this year, but still so many moments to be grateful for... my wonderful daughter, Magic the kitten, family, friends, forró, nature, and many musical wonders. Here are some of the good moments! Feeling hopeful for 2026, love to you all ♥️💃🏽🌞 xxx by @asha_mccarthy

I am so proud to share this record with you; a perfect trinity of songs written by the most excellent friend and musical companion, Julia Gelpke.

After producing her last album El Rio Debajo Del Rio back in 2022, my good friend Julia Gelpke called on me again to help make another record; with the vision of a short album of three songs dedicated to Yemanja, the great mother of the ocean.

Julia and I met with a group of our favourite musicians to begin writing parts and make arrangements of the songs, and then we set about recording them. The result is something so special, and I feel the production work, including the mixing, is some of my best to date.

Estrela do Mar (Star of the Sea) is a devotional meeting of Afro-Brazilian drums with West African kora and European orchestral instruments; influences that span three continents, all of which share the waters of the great Atlantic Ocean. There is so much depth and significance to the intention and meaning of these records, for healing and reconciliation, with a prayer and salutation to Yemanja, the great mother of us all.

With Asha McCarthy on Cello and vocals, Lizzie Ogle on Percussion and vocals, Arjun Magee on Kora, George Heartsong on Piano and Accordion, Alfie Weedon on Double Bass, and of course contributions of guitars and production skills from yours truly.

I am truly awed by what we have achieved. At times during this process I have thought "this is simply a masterpeice". I hope you love it as much as I do.

Landing home with my heart full after a busy but magical gig time. It was an honour to open for and play with the sublime @aylaschafer at @heartfirenl last week and be in Amsterdam again. first heard this song in the himalayas and it's one of my all time favourites, this is my very fusion version of it ❤️
I also have a new track out! thank you everyone who's listened already.

More gigs coming up with @danielinzani and @faelandmusic sooooon!! xx by @asha_mccarthy

Celloing at @hiddennotes___ last weekend, it's always such a treat to play with @danielinzani and Hugh Blogg. Highly reccommend checking out Dan's new mega album which just had a well deserved 5* reveiw from the @guardian. It's totally epic!
My ears are still full from the rich feast of music last week, thank you @hiddennotes___ team, so grateful to have this in our small town. ❤️
