Before Asian garage blew up, brown kids in 1990s London were raving in secret in the middle of the day. 'Daytime Deewane' at @riversideparra drops us right there, where being good and rebelling could happen in the same afternoon.

@ashan_kumar joins @dilpreettaggar to talk about why joy is protest.

DAYTIME DEEWANE 🥶😮‍💨
Radical. Brown. Joy. Sums up this extremely special experience.
Endlessly grateful for those who came along showing nothing but love and support. ❤️‍🔥
Thank you to the team @riversideparra & @ntofp for all your hard work behind the scenes and each and every creative that transported us back to the raves of 1997 so vibrantly.
Thank you to @sepy.baghaei for trusting me with Sadiq and guiding us through this unique theatrical performance.
Eternally blessed by @azanahmed__ for this absolute gift of a story showcasing such a tender, complex story of 2 brown boys.
And lastly to @ariyan_sharma for accompanying me on this journey, side by side. We did it brother 🥹 Images by @theaterbacher taken in Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta by @ashan_kumar

Desi cousins must roast each other.

Actors @ashan_kumar and @ariyan_sharma talk to us about their love-hate relationship in Daytime Deewane, which peels back the layers of what good Muslim boys should or shouldn’t do. And daytime raves? Naturally scandalous.

'Daytime Deewane' is currently on at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta.
