Micah Ofstedahl has been BUSY in the STUDIO! 😀 Some of you may notice that this painting is from the same view as an earlier painting, Pastoral, which is the first time that Micah has returned to the same scene near Emigrant Lake for another painting. They look very different though due to the earlier time of day and about a month earlier in the year, revealing a different light and atmosphere, as well as a mirror-like pond. There is a subtle iridescence in the eleven white strings of light and mist that are hard to capture from the original to a little screen, but you can somewhat pick it up in the detailed photo. THIS WEEKEND! 😀 Join us for Southern Oregon Open Studios, taking place on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Featuring over twenty artists, come and visit the very places where art happens. There will be everything from painting, to embroidery, sculpture, glass blowing, and more. A variety of art demonstrations have been scheduled to take place throughout both days. Join The Talent Gallery for Artists Talk Sundays with Vanessa Jo Bahr of Scavenger Studios! 😀 Vanessa will walk visitors through the origins of her creative practice, discovery of printmaking, and initial interpretations of the medium. Her talk will then expand upon how she has made a career as an independent artist and an educator within academia. Vanessa’s talk contains glimpses into traditional printmaking techniques and an in-depth journey into her research methods and inspirations. There will be a short Q+A afterward, along with original copper plates and hand-carved blocks available to see up-close and in-person. Come one, come all. I’m having a massive studio purge this weekend, Oct 17-18, 11-5pm each day, for Southern Oregon Open Studios. Hundreds of pieces of art are up for grabs, pulled from the deepest darkest corners of my studio lair; originals in all shapes and sizes, drawings,studies, experiments, product samples and weird things inspired from other dimensions. Introducing Artist Jen Eufusia, one of this year’s Participating Studios in Southern Oregon Open Studios! 😀 Jen Eufusia is a mixed media artist known for her abstract drawings and mixed media paintings. She has had an extensive career as a member of the art faculty at Rogue Community College, where she teaches color theory, painting, and mixed media drawing. She also teaches watercolor workshops throughout Southern Oregon and has taught for Mendocino Art Center as well as Sitka Art & Ecology Center. Joining her during Southern Oregon Open Studios will be Guest Artists Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass and Pam Haunschild. Join the Schneider Museum of Art for the Opening Reception of Eons: Unraveling Time. ☺️ Time is often imagined as linear, a sequence of moments moving steadily from past to present toward an unknown future. Yet artists have long understood that time is far more complex. It loops, overlaps, fractures, heals, and returns. Memory reshapes history. Stories are retold. Materials carry the evidence of countless hands, generations, and lived experiences. In Eons: Unraveling Time, curated by Maria de Los Angeles, these layered understandings of time become tangible through works that weave together personal narratives, cultural histories, mythology, labor, and imagination.
