Booking takes minutes. What happens after is the part people don’t expect. I keep notes on every client. Traveling with a toddler who needs a crib? You’ll never have to ask for it again. Celebrating something? The hotel will know before you walk in.

Hi, I’m Ashleigh 👋🏼 Travel advisor, skier, detail obsessive. Seven things about me:

1. 40 countries. 6 continents. Oceania is the last one.
2.I’ve skied Antarctica. I’m heading back this month for trip #6.
3. I lived in Argentina for six months and have spent over a year there total.
4. My day job: COO of a ski expedition company. Logistics in places with no cell service is my normal.
5. I spent about ten years in fine jewelry. I notice details. All of them.
6. Home is Tahoe. If you want a ski trip planned by someone who actually skis, I’m your person.
7. I book a Hilton for a work trip and a $20,000 bucket-list trip with the same care.

Enough of you have asked this that it gets its own post.

Hotels pay me a commission, usually around 10-15%. Your price stays the same. The hotel was going to spend that money on a booking site or its own marketing anyway. Or it would go to a massive OTA (online travel agency) like AMEX or Expedia. I just cost them less and send them better guests.

My agency bans service fees, so there’s no catch hiding at the end.

If you don’t like the rate I find, don’t book it. Takes me a few minutes to check.

I lived in Argentina for six months and have spent more than a year of my life there.

This is the version I’d hand a friend: about two weeks, four very different Argentinas. City, wine country, glaciers and the falls. Swap Patagonia for the Andes in winter if you’d rather ski.

I’ve landed in Buenos Aires and Colombo after long-haul flights. Both times the only thing I wanted was someone holding a sign with my name on it.

In Buenos Aires, it’s the difference between the official taxi counter and the guy by the exit quoting a “great price” in pesos you haven’t changed yet.

Now it’s the first thing I add to every booking. Airport pickups, a driver for a day, a boat out to the island. Tell me where you’re landing.

The couple next to you at breakfast might be paying the exact same rate and getting a completely different stay. Theirs came with the breakfast, the better room and a note from the GM.

That’s what booking through an advisor looks like at a preferred property. Perks vary by hotel, and I’ll tell you exactly what comes with yours before you book.

Picture this: you wake up after a night of rolling around in your cabin bed due to high seas. 6:30am wake up call because “this is an expedition, not a vacation”. You grab your gear, put on a life jacket and jump into the zodiac with your group to head to the shore. As you’re putting your skis on you realize there’s a seal comfortably napping among all the skiers. You start ascending roped up with your group, and you get maybe a little uncomfortably close to giant (and I mean giant) crevasses. But there’s nothing to worry about, because you’re surrounded by a guide group that is the best of the best in the world and they know exactly how to navigate this terrain. The sun is shinning and there is no wind and you feel like it is April in Colorado. The echoes of people hooting and hollering are heard all through the mountains and as you reach the bottom of your run you’re greeted by a few curious penguins trying to figure out what the heck you are. This is Antarctica. These experiences do not exist anywhere else on the planet.

I am beyond lucky to be a part of the media team capturing this extraordinary @iceaxeexpeditions trip. Working alongside @steinretzlaff has been a dream as he facilitates the ways for us to capture content. I’ve also become a lot more comfortable flying the drone as I learn from Stein (maybe a little too daring with landing low batteries haha)! It was incredible to have @nickmartini and @cam_riley on the media team as well, and observing the creative ways they capture this landscape.

I am forever thankful to @ashleighstevens and @icemandoug for having me as a part of the team, could not have dreamed of a more epic gig!

And to everyone I met on the trip - thank you for the good times! I loved sharing experiences on the hill, during dinner, over drinks at the bar and dancing the night away to Latino beats during the White party 🎶❄️
