11 years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes — an autoimmune disease where my pancreas no longer makes insulin, a hormone needed to turn food into energy. Since then, my world has been forever changed. Every workout, every meal, every walk, every outing with family or friends is impacted by diabetes. It’s an invisible disease, and while you may not always see the highs, lows, or daily challenges, it’s always there.

But I refuse to let it stop me. Instead, I’ve grown stronger, more active, and more in tune with my body and nutrition. My body may not function like everyone else’s, but it allows me to live my life to the fullest! I thank God every day for the life and health I do have, and for giving me the opportunity to move my body and make memories with those around me!

The support from my boyfriend, family, and friends is nothing short of amazing, and I am so grateful. 💙 My journey with T1D isn’t easy, but it has shaped me into who I am today — and I hope I can inspire others either living with this condition or not to not let challenges hold you back!!! #T1D #Diaversary by @ashley_defined
