I now have a new favorite hike! We woke up at 5am to hike the Little Beehive at Lake Louise. We were above the clouds and above Lake Louise! I said yes! Then we hiked down for a little snack at the Lake Agnes Tea House 🫖.

Epic 5 day itinerary for Banff ⬇️

‘Save’ this for later and send it to the person you want to take with you!

🏕️Day 1: Check in to Johnston Canyon campground Hike Johnston Canyon and the ink pots.

🩵Day 2: Wake up for sunrise at Lake Louise. Hike the Little Beehive and to the Agnes Tea House.

Drive some of the Ice Fields Parkway to Bow Lake and Peyto Lake.

🏔️Day 3: See the sunrise at Moraine Lake.

Get your shuttle tickets in April, two days in advance, or book a private shuttle. Hike the Moraine Lake Shoreline trail.

Explore the city of Banff. Eat dinner at Nourish Bistro for amazing vegan and vegetarian food. Then end your day by soaking in the Banff Upper Hot Springs.

🧊Day 4: Drive more of the Ice Fields Parkway. Stop at Morant’s Curve, Waterfowl Lakes, and Mistaya Canyon.

Visit the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park. Walk down closer to the Athabasca glacier, then eat dinner at the chalet.

💚Day 5: Visit Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park on your way out.

Devils’ Garden Trail- This trail is located in Arches National Park, Utah. 8 mile loop, but we just did the 5 miles round-trip to Landscape Arch, Navajo Arch, Partition Arch, and Double-O arch. Or you can just go as far as you’d like! Be sure to also visit Skyline Arch near the trailhead (in the video).

Five Lakes Trail-

This is located in Zermatt, Switzerland. It is 6.7 miles point to point with 941 feet of elevation gain. To get to the start, take the tram from Zermatt to Sunnegga, then take a gondola up to Blauherd. The first lake, Stellisee, is the most beautiful and can have a reflection of the Matterhorn. Some people just see this one.
There are lots of places to take some short cuts on this hike without missing the lakes. At the last lake, Leisee, there is a cool playground with a raft that will take you across the lake.

Oeschinensee Lake-

This is Lake Oeschinen Loop trail on AllTrails. It is 6 miles round trip with 1,600 feet of elevation gain, and rated as difficult. Take the gondola up and down the mountain to save time. Do this loop clockwise so you can finish the hike at the lake. Stay the night in Kandersteg.There are two mountain huts up there where you can get drinks and food.

Saxer Lücke via Staubern-

Take the gondola up from Frumsen to Stauberen. The hike is about 8 miles out and back from Staubern to Falensee. It is considered a moderate hike with 1,100 feet of elevation gain. We stayed at Berggasthaus Staubern for one night. There are many other ways to do this hike as well. You can continue hiking to other mountain huts.

Lac du Louvie-

This is located in the Val de Bagnes region of Switzerland. This valley is SUPER underrated and not very touristy at all. The hike is 5.3 miles with 3,100 feet of elevation gain. It is very steep and rated difficult. You can take the local bus directly to the trailhead. You can stay the night or get a meal from Cabane de Louvie.

Le Bisse de Ravines-

This is a historic irrigation channel that was once used for agriculture. There are lots of wood sculptures. The hike is a very easy 3.6 miles. It is excellent for children as they love playing in the water!

Delicate Arch Trail- Located in Arches National Park, Utah, this trail is 3.2 miles round trip and rated as moderately challenging. Be sure to take the super short detour to see petroglyphs.

The Manitou Incline- 4 miles round trip with 2,000 feet of elevation gain and 2,768 steps to the top. Go up the incline and back down on the Barr Trail. Park in Manitou Springs and take the free shuttle to the trailhead.

If you go in the winter, wear microspikes on your shoes and bring hiking poles. If you go soon after a snowstorm, the shuttle might not be able to take you to the start of the Incline. Be prepared to walk the whole way from the parking lot. taken in Manitou Incline by @ashleyemckee

Sol Duc Falls Trail- Located in Olympic National Park, Washington. 2 miles round trip to the falls. This hike is considered easy. Be sure to also add on the Lover Lane Trail and the B Loop trail. That is where the first two shots are taken. If you do all three trails, that would be a 6 mile loop.

Devils Head Lookout- 3 miles out and back with 900 feet of elevation gain and 143 stairs. Some of the way here is a dirt road. The hike up to the lookout is so beautiful in the fall! 🍂

From the lookout you can see all the way to downtown Denver and Pikes Peak!
