photos for @phat_wes! what an honor!

I first saw Wes perform at a showcase two years ago, back when I still lived in Richmond—there were three bands on the bill, and I was working for @mbrettjones, who is also fantastic. honestly, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing when he hit the stage. I knew it wouldn’t be the last time. this man is not only a social media icon but also a stunning songwriter with not a single skippable song in his whole discography. I’m so serious.

dusting off the dslr for this one reminded me how much I really love doing this. moving put me in some kind of creative-block purgatory… and I’m still fighting it. but chatting with Wes a bit after the show about imposter syndrome made me realize that literally no one is safe from feeling like that. I guess I lived to tell the tale.

anyway, it wouldn’t be a post from me without an essay in the caption. thanks for the kindness and addictive music, Wes, you’ve helped me more than you know!

this year, I moved across the country alone with three suitcases and told myself everything was going to be okay. and I was right. 24 and feeling just as overwhelmed as before, but in a good way! taken in Portland, Oregon by @ashleyoffkey

honored to be along for the ride as Goodnight Daniel turns into M. Brett Jones. these guys gave an unbelievably beautiful performance at one of my new favorite venues in RVA (shoutout G5 staff for being so wonderful) with plans to release new stuff this fall. follow along, you seriously won’t wanna miss em. taken in Gallery5 by @ashleyoffkey

first promo shoot w/ @ekkoastral last month, right before they opened for @crushfund at Bandito’s on the Richmond leg of their tour. honored to capture this during an exciting time, as they just released their new debut album “Pink Balloons”! had a great first time in the mascara moshpit.

been having a weird time with social media lately but reminding myself that sharing work is fun regardless of how timely the post is. might follow up with some live photos, thanks for being here 💞 taken in Richmond, Virginia by @ashleyoffkey

taken through a 🪞 @rapture_cville last summer. this one’s special to me. reminds me that shooting music is unpredictable, at times a challenge, but always fun. michael’s band performed with unmatched energy under what was about 50 different lighting changes that night. who knew the mirror would help me focus in. now it’s become one of my favorite moments! @michael_and_the_misdemeanors taken in Rapture by @ashleyoffkey

from a special birthday show back in november. @tinahashemimusic is one of the hardest working artists I know. she has a gift of bringing the most genuine people together and it’s like magic to see. been a min but here we are 💌

soaking up as much cville live music as I can before leaving for a little while ! it’s bittersweet. I love this town, and everyone I’ve met through doing exactly this. taken in Charlottesville, Virginia by @ashleyoffkey
