We spent the week in Florida helping our dad settle into his new condo.

Somewhere along the way, the American definition of success became leaving. Leaving home. Leaving family. Leaving the people who know you best in pursuit of becoming someone.

Family business is often treated as the opposite of ambition. Less independent. Less impressive. Less serious.

But lately we’ve been wondering if the more rebellious choice is staying connected.

Building something with family isn’t always efficient. It comes with history, opinions, complexity, and occasional debates about where to get lunch. But it also comes with meaning.

For us, choosing to build together wasn’t the safe choice. It was the authentic one.

A week with our dad was a good reminder that success feels different when the people you love are actually there to share it. taken in Cocoa Beach, Florida by @ashleysamia

This was my ode to stop trying to make AI something it’s not, human. In a world where we aim to make everything more realistic, I wanted to celebrate the surrealist absurdities that the digital world and our imaginative one are.

Took inspiration from Yorgos Lanthimos,
Tennessee Williams, Wes Anderson, Dali,
mild existential dread,
and the daily task of maintaining composure

paranoiac-critical method

Writing a narration of your narrative in 1st and 3rd is hard.

The world demands clarity like it’s a moral virtue.
We demand it in love, too.
We want sharp edges, defined lines, certainty we can point to and say,
see, this is real.
But focus is just a trick of proximity.
We fall in love with our own angle.
Our own framing.
Our own version of events.
The blur is harder to sit with.
It admits distortion.
Projection.
The parts we invent to feel safe.
We never see the whole thing.
We just decide which version we can live with.

Had fun shooting these. taken in Forage Ojai by @ashleysamia

Not sure what I’m creating here. But it feels like the start of a series.
