I stood beneath the moon watching something that exists for sixteen hours once. It felt strangely familiar. Not because of how beautiful it was, but because of how willingly it surrendered to being temporary. It arrived, transformed completely, and disappeared without trying to preserve a single version of itself.

I’ve always been terrified that if I’m not seen, I somehow don’t exist. Meanwhile, this flower spends almost its entire life waiting for a night that most people will sleep through. Maybe we’ve made permanence and validation the goal, when nature has been teaching us all along that we’re allowed to change, to become something entirely new, and to let the old version of ourselves disappear without apology.

We spent the week in Florida helping our dad settle into his new condo.

Somewhere along the way, the American definition of success became leaving. Leaving home. Leaving family. Leaving the people who know you best in pursuit of becoming someone.

Family business is often treated as the opposite of ambition. Less independent. Less impressive. Less serious.

But lately we’ve been wondering if the more rebellious choice is staying connected.

Building something with family isn’t always efficient. It comes with history, opinions, complexity, and occasional debates about where to get lunch. But it also comes with meaning.

For us, choosing to build together wasn’t the safe choice. It was the authentic one.

A week with our dad was a good reminder that success feels different when the people you love are actually there to share it.

Desert plants don’t rush, they endure, built on quiet resilience, holding water, holding light, holding their place. Something about being out there with family feels the same. A little worn, a little wild, but still rooted. Nothing to prove, just time spent together, steady in it

Happy Birthday Ashley 🖤
15 years apart but honestly — you’ve taught me just as much as I’ve taught you, maybe more.
You are braver than you know, more self-aware than most people twice your age, and you love so deeply it’s impossible not to feel it. You take the different route every single time and it is always, always the right one.
Keep being exactly who you are. 33 looks so good on you.
Love you to the moon, little sis.

Our first wedding of the season.

Twenty-five guests.
Layered color.
Classic architecture.
Garden light.

The beauty of a micro wedding is this —
nothing feels rushed.
Nothing feels excessive.
Everything feels intentional.

Ojai’s Montana Estate was designed for gatherings like this.
