Moved somewhere new and it still doesn’t feel like home? Feel guilty for working? Feel guilty for not working? Said yes to one too many things and regretted it by morning?

Hi. This one’s for you. 👋
Ashley Weece moved across the country with her husband to plant a church in Brunswick, Maine, with two little boys and zero community. She’s been a full time working mom, a mostly stay at home mom, and everything in between, so she’s felt the guilt from every angle.

We talked about:
📍 The three year rule that helped her stop feeling behind in a new place
🍞 Living in a “five loaves and two fish” season (not enough time, sleep, or snacks)
🙅‍♀️ The overcommitment trap and the fear that if you say no, no one will ever ask again
🩱 Why ignoring your season is a lot like wearing a bathing suit in 20 degree weather
💛 Letting your kids be loved by other people, without the guilt

If you’ve been measuring yourself against a version of motherhood that doesn’t fit your season, consider this your permission slip to stop.

Comment PODCAST and we’ll send you the full episode. 🎧

Got to bring the boys this year to my favorite place in Maine. Love this island, the history, and the slow way of living. We had some big hikes, great food, explored shipwrecks and reveled in the breathtaking beauty of the rugged coastline that gave us @ironcoastchurch’s name taken in Monhegan Island, Maine by @ashleyweece

A new episode of Candid Conversations About Women and the Church is here.

In this conversation, Sue Ferguson and Noemi Chavez sit down with Ashley Weece to talk about planting a church while raising a young family, navigating both encouragement and opposition in ministry, and faithfully following God's calling through every season.

Ashley's story is an honest and hope-filled reminder that God is faithful as we step out in obedience.

There is a debate that has lived inside the church for decades now, and it almost always comes down to one question: who gets the authority?

Who gets to lead? Who gets to preach? Who gets to be in charge?

What does Scripture say about it? What did Paul instruct and Jesus exemplify?

And it doesn’t matter who the person is asking (whether you’d call yourself a complementarian or an egalitarian), what the platform is, or what the title/pastoral function is, I just can’t help but wonder every time it is asked…

Whose definition of authority are we actually working from?

Because Jesus is with us, because He sees us, and because of what He finished on the cross, we can still say “it is well” even in seasons when we are not. by @ashleyweece

I’ve always loved the way the book of John ends... After writing down the story of Jesus, John concludes this way,
“Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.”

This is one of the things I love so much about Jesus- He does more than we could ever pen on paper and He is working, even now, in ways we will never know.

And as 2025 closes, this verse captures the heart of our year.

Jesus did many things.

He has been so faithful. I don’t know where we would be without Him. And with each year that passes, I grow increasingly convinced of how good the love and way of Jesus really is.

I will be off social media for the beginning of this year, and I am looking forward to utilizing the time I’ve been on here with my boys that are growing up way too fast and with the community God is forming here in Maine…But I will be writing on Substack, and am beginning a new devotional series called Last Day Letters. On the final day of each month you’ll get a letter meant to ready your mind and heart for the new month ahead. Hopefully for you it is a quiet pause after a full month and a momentary space to breathe deeply the hope of Christ before you turn the calendar. You can subscribe at link in bio.

So often we slip into an “if He comes” mindset, thinking the Spirit’s work depends on our performance.
“If I preach better…
If our vision is more compelling…
If our online presence is stronger…”

But Jesus never said if the Spirit comes.
He said: “WHEN He comes.”

“WHEN” carries both certainty and mystery that God will do what He came to do, but the timing belongs to Him.

This truth frees leaders from performance pressure and centers us back on the guarantee of His presence and power.

Let’s lead from confidence, not insecurity.
Let’s trust when, not strive for if. 🙌🔥 by @ashleyweece

We ended our time at the SLN 2025 Gathering with an amazing panel! These planters shared stories of calling, endurance, and the beauty of seeing God move in the waiting.

New and seasoned leaders reminded us that the soil may be tough, but the harvest is still His. Thank YOU guys! 🌱 by @ashleyweece
