A pic of Ash and me before the night began and things got a little crazy for both of us.

Manifesting a space, a vision, a goal. That’s how I operate. The goal comes first, and then you do what you need to do and build what you need to build to get there.

I still can’t believe we made all of this happen in only a year and a half.

Thank you, Richmond, for helping us reclaim this space and for showing up for this new nonprofit the way you have.

And most importantly, thank you, Ash. You know none of this manifesting could have become a reality without ya, kid. ❤️ by @ashmeanythingg

Hot girl summer isn’t over yet 🔥

We still have a week and a half left on the HEAT WAVE fundraiser to support Gallery5 and so far we have raised $1,321 of our $10,000 goal.

Every year the summer months get hotter for us all, and G5 is not immune to the heat. This is historically our slowest season and at a time when arts organizations are struggling across the board your support helps us overcome the August scarries as we rally for a jam packed fall season full of collaborative exhibitions, impactful programming, and opportunities to celebrate local artists.

Gallery5 is held together by everyday people who believe in the importance of community building and connection. The arts are so important during times of uncertainty because it is what allows us to tap in to our humanity and to conceptualize the world we want to create around us. Spaces like Gallery5 often serve as the launch pad for a lot of that work, giving folks a space to experiment, to express themselves, and to grow alongside other artists.

Each day we are making notable progress. Help us get closer to our goal and please consider giving in an amount that you’re able to to help us maintain operations during this slow season 🖤 Every little bit counts and serves as a commitment to a sustainable future for our local DIY arts community.

$It’s become a tradition for our director to snap a silly selfie during the volunteer mixer the week of the big event! 📸 This photo captures just a small fraction of the amazing people working behind the scenes to bring this event to life. Between our volunteers, performers, guilds, and vendors, more than 400 people are helping create the Warriors in Bloom experience for our community this weekend. Don’t miss out! Grab your tickets for this Saturday or Sunday before they sell out! Come experience the magic and show your support! ❤️ by @ashmeanythingg$

Ash,

A post dedicated to you :-)

A few years ago, I began carrying the idea for a Ren Faire in our region. After returning to Gallery5 in 2023, something reignited in me. It felt familiar, like a spark I had known more than twenty years ago, paired with a quiet certainty that our community needed this at this very moment in time.

At the end of 2024, I made the idea for the Faire public, not because it was fully formed, but because I believed community input, enthusiasm, and collective creativity would carry it forward. By early 2025, a small but dedicated skeleton crew brought our first fundraising efforts to life, and support was immediate.

And somewhere in all of that, you stepped in and never stepped away.

Through every stage, you believed in this vision alongside me. We both understood the sacrifice required, and without hesitation, we got to work. Countless late nights went into building infrastructure, processes, and navigating nonprofit development.

You’ve been there through all of it, helping turn a vision into reality.

I am not someone who rests when there is still work to be done. In you, I found someone who shares that drive, leads with community at the forefront, and gives fully even when it asks more than is comfortable. It’s evident that what matters most to both of us is impact: creating opportunities for artists, building platforms for our community, and offering spaces that inspire and uplift. We balance one another, strengthen where the other falters, and have built something rare and deeply meaningful.

At the end of 2025, we made the decision to fully commit. We stepped away from our jobs, and I closed my business to follow this path. It was the greatest risk either of us had taken. No guarantees, no roadmap, only belief and determination.

That is what it takes to build something that matters. It has been a year of growth and transformation. I know with certainty that none of this would exist without you.

Thank you for believing in this vision and holding steady through the hardest moments.
I couldn’t have done it without ya, kid.

Warmly,
Amanda by @ashmeanythingg

We are two weeks away from welcoming thousands of community members into the world that we have spent the past year+ building.

It’s important to take a second to stop and appreciate the moments along the way that make this project so meaningful. The Richmond Ren Faire is not just a massive celebration of our local arts and culture communities, but a collaborative effort amongst them. The energy behind this work is infectious and it’s inspiring creativity, teamwork, and resiliency at a time when people need it most.

That is the power of the arts.

The arts have an ability to bring people together through shared passion, allowing them to be the architects of the world that they want to see reflected around them. That is what this project represents. It is a creative revolution at the grassroots level that promotes sustainability, supporting our local economies, shifting away from mass consumption, and caring for one another.

We may not be able to save the world with a ren faire, but the momentum and creative drive that we are surrounded by feels like a new kind of renaissance taking form with each passing day.

I am so grateful for this crew that I am lucky enough to work alongside and I am proud of the work that everyone has put in. Those pictured and the MANY who are not. Thank you, Richmond 🖤

Exactly a year ago today a few of us sat down in @rvaamanda living room to lay out the framework for a new organization (@viragoalley) that would present the @rvarenfaire and host educational programming representing various forms of historic combat and artisan trades.

Today, a year later, I close a chapter in my career to begin diving into this organization full time.

I am so grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have lead me to this point. It is clear to me that community building is my purpose in this life and this past year has been unlike anything I have ever experienced.

This growing community is so special and I’m honored to help lead this charge. Thank you to everyone involved, I cannot wait to continue to build this vision together. We have only just gotten started ⚔️ taken in Richmond, Virginia by @ashmeanythingg

Gallery5 turned 20 years old this week 🖤

I thought about writing something long and sappy, but you guys get that from me enough. If you’ve ever had a memorable moment at G5, consider giving a gift within your means! This space is held together by the community for the community.
