HEY RUNNERS…looking for your next BIG challenge?

And maybe one that’s about something much bigger than you?

My friend Ashley, @ashmschneider once ran SOLO across the United States—3,260 miles—to raise money and awareness for MS. What began as a tribute to her mom has grown into an incredible annual coast-to-coast relay.

And they’re looking for runners! 🏃‍♀️🏃

160 miles. 6 days. One team. One mission.

You already know you can run.
Maybe it’s time to see what your running can DO. ❤️

Grab a couple of your crazy running friends, check out the flyer, and consider joining this cause.

Do something hard.
Do something meaningful.
Do something bigger than you.

🎙️ Starting a podcast was not on my dream board, and the most surprising thing that’s happened since I began is how much I enjoy it!

Maybe it’s bringing my story to a broader audience. (Audiobook listeners I hear you!)

Maybe it’s the challenge of reading the pages of my book out loud.

It definitely isn’t the production of the videos and episodes because holy hell does this all take a lot of time to create. ☠️

But I’m glad I started. I’m learning a lot. I’ve made a ton of mistakes already. But I’m also really proud of what’s being created.

I’m four chapters in and many more to go. And I’d be so grateful if you listened, liked, and shared my podcast — Dare To Begin with Ashley Schneider — with anyone who you think would enjoy it. 🫶🏻 Link in bio 🔗 taken in Hartland, Wisconsin by @ashmschneider

Last night I celebrated my book launch with my dear family, the best friends a person could ask for, and my closest colleagues.🎉

To say this was a memorable moment that I will never forget simplifies the deep gratitude I feel for the people I love that have cheered me on all along—from the encouragement to write for countless hours, to the supportive text messages and phone calls that kept me going, The Long Run Home was published because of the love and support of the people in this room. 📕

I do this because God calls me to. It’s made manageable, memorable, and so full of magic because of these people by my side. 🧡

It was a night of Daring To Begin our next achievements — big and small! 🔥 LFG!

🎤 A special thank you to my amazing friend @kristinbrey for MCing the program, and leading the conversation with great care and questions! 📸 by: Photos By Paulayana, 🌇 Venue: The Inn, Hartland WI. taken in The INN by @ashmschneider

Showing up is the hard part. 🌲💪🌧️

WTF at the Peak—Year 2.

My friend Kristin joined me in the rain this morning to carry weights through the woods, which sounds real unappealing. Honestly, there’s a big part of me that felt like not planning this.

🚀 The actual thing though, was so much fun.

We got wet, covered in mud, and there’s something epic about being the first ones on the trail.

I’m saving this for myself for the next time I try to talk myself out of something that is good for me and makes me uncomfortable—thinking about doing a hard thing is so much worse than actually doing the hard thing.

Brandon was one of my first @msruntheus Road Crew employees at the org in 2014 and Kaitlyn @kkroo917 was one of his first runners that he cared for. He did such a great job that she decided to keep him 🥰 And now over twelve years later I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate their sweet little baby boy due this fall (our first Relay baby!!)💙 Congratulations KK & B — you’re going to be great parents. You already are 🫶🏻

Included photo dump from my morning hike at Garden of the Gods with @beck262 ☀️ What an epic way to start the day!

I didn’t have to get into character to read this chapter—feeling low after facing mutliple challenges all at once came naturally last week.

As I sat down to recored this episode, I found it very apropos that there are many parts of this chapter that I related to—frustrated by frequent challenges, irritated by the little things because the big things felt hard, willing myself to keep taking one step forward when I had already faced so much.

And all I kept thinking were two things:
1. This is really good for the reading. (It helps when you can match the mood. Performance before happiness 😂)
2. I made it through all THAT, I can make it through this week.

By the time I reached Colorado, I didn’t care much about the “adventure tour across America” I’d originally sold Nate on.

I just wanted to run. Running was the adventure.

And somewhere in all those miles, something else was happening that I couldn’t see at the time: I was beginning to understand my mom with new eyes.

I thought I was running across America for her. But through my own chosen discomfort—the heat, exhaustion, frustration, pain—I was beginning to see her experience in a powerful way. Her strength. Her grace. Everything she’d carried that I’d never fully understood.

That’s one of the things I love about rereading this story 17 years later. I can see the ways the miles were changing me that I couldn’t recognize while I was living them.

Isn’t that true so often of challenges?

This chapter is real and very relatable. If you’ve ever felt irritated by successful people who appear to never be challenged, this chapter will help you feel seen.

When we talk about what we’ve been through, what we’ve learned, and what we discover we’re capable of, it doesn’t just belong to us anymore. It gives someone else a chance to see what might be possible for them too.

🥇I got to meet Olympian Alana Nichols today, and I’ve been thinking about her message ever since.

Her story is one of bravery, resilience, and continuing to discover what’s possible—even when life looks completely different than you thought it would.

There’s something powerful and brave about sharing that story.

This was such a great afternoon at the Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay Powerful event, being surrounded by women doing really meaningful things in their work and communities.

I’m so glad I made the trip to Green Bay today 💚💛 🧡 taken in Green Bay, Wisconsin by @ashmschneider

This could have been really bad.

I’m running across America and I discover nearly $6,000 is missing from the organization’s bank account.

To make it worse, it looks like someone traveling with us is responsible. ☠️

Chapter 11 of my book The Long Run Home picks up right there.

There’s plenty of drama in this podcast episode—and you’ll finally hear what happened with Spade and the stolen money—but what stayed with me after rereading this chapter wasn’t actually the drama.

✨ It was the lessons from my parents that I found woven throughout it. Lessons that are still relevant to me today. Like when you have a mountain of problems, the best way to get through them is to focus on one at a time. Or the reminder that each day can be a grand adventure, if we choose to take that perspective. ✨

Sixteen years later, I still need these reminders. They’ve stayed with me and even helped me through this week.

What a beautiful legacy my parents have left me. 🧡

Come for the stolen-money story. Stay for the good people who show up along the way and a few great universal lessons that I’m still carrying with me today. 🚀 taken in Vernal, Utah by @ashmschneider
