The last time we went to Disney together, we ran a marathon… and then immediately entered a global pandemic. So naturally, this trip had impossible standards to live up to. 😅

34,000+ steps.
12.5 miles walked.
15 rides.
Several NECESSARY park snacks.
Countless laughs.

And just when we were leaving the park, Mickey & Minnie popped up like they personally wanted to make sure we got our money’s worth. ✨

Truly a magical way to celebrate our birthdays.

My Gidgey. My ride or die for almost 14 years. Five houses, a few roommates (human and furry), so many road trips and two too many plane rides. There wasn’t a squirrel she didn’t love to chase, a patch of grass she wouldn’t roll in, or a hot man she didn’t claim as her own…no hole was big enough, she loved the wind in her hair and dirty was her happy place.

She taught me fierce loyalty, unconditional love, and yes, saint like patience. You had to earn her love, she was not easy to win over, but once you did - you couldn’t help but feel special. And if you were lucky to get a hug - you experienced pure love.

I feel like I’m walking around without my shadow. I keep waiting for her to stick her head around the corner. The house is too quiet (though Lola is trying to make her big sister proud). But I know she’ll be with me forever.

Today is our Birthday! It was exactly a year ago that @mahnee.kham, @harriettedfelizo and I joined @ariseartistsagency !! I am so incredibly grateful to these women and to our clients who trusted that we would continue to be a success. And we are! In a year, we’ve grown and added @madisonselby110, @evitamelk and @stacey_manasco to our amazing team. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings 🎂🎉🥳 by @ashp527

I remember the first day I walked into Mestizo and met Jose. He was SO handsome and such a shameless flirt. I didn’t know what to do with the attention. l ran out of there and called my friends to say “Ohmygod, wait till you see the new coffee guy in my neighborhood.” Each day, he would leave me blushing. As I got to know him, he was so much more than a handsome guy who knew how to give a compliment. He had the most beautiful and sweet heart. Kind. Generous. If you ever walked into Mestizo, you saw how hard he worked in the beautiful place he created and the community he built there. He was not easy, or his best self every day - but he showed up. He worked hard to keep the store open (during the pandemic!) And he always had a smile (and a treat) for every single dog that stopped by. There was not a dog that didn’t love him - that’s how you knew how pure his soul was.

He was an artist. He loved working with hands. He built things from wood, experimented with cement. Wrote poetry. He loved an adventure. Mountain biking especially. I mean any kind of biking, but let’s not talk about the motorbike period that got him helivac’d to the nearest hospital 😅. He loved to cook for people. He was always making sure I ate. He used to bring me coffee (ah the coffee!) and breakfast in bed, regularly. No special occasion needed. We played hours and hours of Call of Duty. The first time we won (the only time), we screamed and yelled and danced for an hour I think. He loved the beach. He would drive an hour just to sit in the sand for 20 mins. He fancied himself a handyman. I knew the truth - but let him think he was the best handyman in the world 😂. He had terrible taste in food. Chipotle and Panda Express being his favorites. No matter how hard I tried to change his mind. There wasn’t a chocolate bar or cookie or gummy bear he didn’t love. He used to sing the Doors at the top of his lungs in the shower at 5am. It’s also where we did our best (ugly) dancing - naked in the shower. Ridiculous. And fun. We had so much fun.

Jan 1 is such an interesting day. It’s just a day, like any other, right? But we wake up each Jan 1 with a feeling of hope and excitement… a chance at a fresh start… an opportunity to create a better year than last year. We make lists, announce our goals to our friends and family (or IG)… sign up for the class we always wanted to take, swear we’re going to quit our vices… and then a few weeks pass and the feeling fades into the background of life.

Well here I am - sharing on IG of course- that I’m going to try my hardest to feel that excitement every day. Not excitement for the goals and plans and vices quit, but just EXCITEMENT. Because to be excited and hopeful every day, like I am on Jan 1 every year, sounds pretty awesome.

It took me a minute to write this because - I was just so shocked. But today, Super Bowl Sunday, seems the perfect day to honor this man. Carl and I had the pleasure of working together for a handful of years. I was lucky enough to be on set with him for two days in December. I watched this former professional football player, this Apollo Creed, this Action Jackson, this Chubbs, this Colonel Dillon, this Greef Karga - this total icon of a man - smile and say hello to everyone on set. Take a picture with those that asked. Sign an assortment of memorabilia, the item chosen based on the decade the person was born, of course. He didn’t spend his off camera time in his trailer, instead he flitted in and out of conversations about the commercial, Star Wars, directing, acting and his kids. I watched the people all around him look at him with such respect and awe. Including myself. Not (just) because I grew up watching Rocky repeatedly with my mom, but because I realized I was observing exactly how this man had earned this career he had. Not just through his immense talent but his humility, grace, charm and supreme passion for his chosen path.

It was an honor and a highlight of my career to work with him.

Please keep an eye out for the third chapter of his Fan Duel Super Bowl commercial today. All three spots were a little homage to his career, but this one today has a nice tribute moment. ❤️ by @ashp527

I came up with a new rule for our team the other day… for every bad piece of news we share, we need to share something good. So while the news has been extra noisy around us lately, and people like to perpetuate more noise around that news, here is my good: While not every day easy, and some jobs are a little more complicated, or a little more frustrating then others - this team is always the best, the kindest and the hardest working. These women have worked their asses off this year and the numbers show it in addition to the clients seeing it (I hope!).
