24th Summer on the terrain where it all started. Half of my life. Some ramblings on revisiting old haunts...

Tens of thousands of tyres later, these particular trails are in at least as good a condition as they were in a quarter of a century ago. If trails aren't steep and they flow in a way that hard braking isn't a thing, and their soil drains well (pretty lucky here in that regard) then MTBs don't ruin them. They might even improve them. But we already knew that didn't we?

Those who know the zone, know that the main event is further down in the woods, beyond the 2nd photo. It's one of the key stretches which made me think "THIS is mountain biking". The singletrack dance, the pushing into natural support, the forgetting about everything that isn't right in front of you.

Back then we rode slower -or- we were living on the edge, trying to ride this stuff fast over a 68° headangle. I fully remember part of the excitement being "this is good but how good will it be when the bikes catch up?!". You can safely say that we're there and it's absolutely fucking peak. Nomad, the 7th generation. Outstanding turn earner, ball grower and fun instigator, all rolled into probably the best bike that Santa Cruz have ever made. Light, nimble and forgiving enough for @stonekingrally ; badass enough for the park (which is more than can be said for me).

Claimed kinematic improvements over Nomad 6 are very real and the 2027 @rockshox suspension on this SRAM 90 build is a great asset in that regard. Linear!

Born right before the first ever @transprovence, Tegan's first ever Enduro race was today.
Feels significant and (I'll be honest) a proud day for me.
P3 women's overall on some proper mountain biking terrain in the Haute Roya, and against some bloody impressive girls.
